Our own Alan Christensen has been lifted up from this parish and faithfully discerned a call to be made a deacon. His ordination will happen this Saturday, October 24, as a part of the closing Eucharist of our diocesan convention. He's issued an invitation to us here, please read and join the celebration Saturday! You can log in to the livestream (link below) as early as 2:15 for the 2:30 service.
Hello, Christ Church family! Some of you have already heard, but this coming Saturday, October 24, I am being ordained as a vocational deacon. The service will take place at 2:30 PM at St. Mark's Cathedral. Due to COVID-19 only a minimal number of people will be present, but you can watch it on the Cathedral's streaming page
. And Christ Church will have a presence at the service: Rev. Shelly is one of my presenters and Gail Willis is reading one of the (pre-recorded) Scripture lessons. I hope you all can share in this joyous occasion and ask your prayers of support in this new phase of my life and ministry!
I've been serving at St. Dunstan's in Shoreline for the last two years as my field education assignment, and for at least the time being I'll continue there as a deacon along with the Rev. Pat Grodt. I've found great joy here working with the Tuesday community dinner ministry and with Camp United We Stand, a tent community in the North End that is hosted by St. Dunstan's and other local churches. During the next year we'll have a conversation with the Bishop's office about my assignment past next year, whether I stay at St. Dunstan's or am sent somewhere else. Either way, I look forward to the next chapter in the adventure. Maybe some time after in-person services return, Janice and I can come be with Christ Church one Sunday!
