ANNOUNCEMENTS

IN-PERSON WORSHIP SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Because of the significant spike in COVID-19 cases, we have once again suspended in-person worship. Unfortunately, because of the large numbers of people coming down with the virus, it's hard to know when we will be able to get back together. We will continue to offer services via YouTube and will find other ways to interact as best we can. In the meantime, it is very important that we all continue to wear our masks in public, social distance, and stay home if possible in order to keep each other and our neighbors safe.  Click here to watch last Sunday's service

DONATIONS FOR ALTAR FLOWERS ARE BEING ACCEPTED.  If you would like to donate the altar flowers there is a sign up sheet in the narthex or you can click here to order online. The cost is $30. People often donate them in celebration of birthdays and anniversaries or to remember loved ones. Or sometimes just because. If you have any questions contact Gera Chestnutt.

PLEASE CONTINUE YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS  As we spend this time in isolation, we are still capable of small acts of generosity.  Please continue your contributions to the Church as they enable larger acts in your name. You can either donate online via the Church website  http://www.church-resurrection.org/give-with-us OR you can drop a check in the mail - The church address is 5909 Walzem Rd. Windcrest TX 78218. Thank you for your continued support - Dorcas Sampson, Sr. Warden.

THURSDAY BIBLE STUDY - JULY 2 AT 10:00 AM VIA ZOOM

We are studying The Pastoral Letters (1 and 2 Timothy and Titus) at our Thursday morning bible study. This week we will be looking in depth at 2 Timothy 2:14 - 26. Here are some discussion questions that will guide our conversation.
  1. How do you know if you are "quarreling about words" or standing up against false teaching? Which do most Christians spend more time doing? How about you?
  2. According to vss. 15-16 and 22-24, what should you pursue and what should you flee?
  3. What do you need to flee and what do you need to pursue?
  4. What does Paul mean by "God's solid foundation" that stands fir in spite of error and false teaching?
  5. What security and challenge do the inscriptions in vs. 19 give the church today?
  6. What does repentance involve (vs 25)? When has repentance led you to greater knowledge of the truth?
Join us next Thursday (July 2) at 10:00 a.m. Here is the link you will need: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83322341114. You can also call  in: (346) 248- 7799  Meeting ID: 833 2234 1114

THERE IS STILL TIME TO JOIN OUR MODIFIED MISSION TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD

One of the exciting things about this past year was our Mission to the Neighborhood. Unfortunately, we had to curtail that activity because of COVID-19. However, having discussed it with the vestry we have decided to once again invite our neighbors to worship with us both in-person and virtually!

Instead of physically going around to houses, we will write short notes to our neighbors inviting them to join us. We are looking for some folks who would be willing to hand write 10 notes and hand address the corresponding envelopes (you can write more if you like). You will be given note cards, envelopes and a template for what to write. You will also be given the addresses to which to send them.

Look for more details in the days to come and if you are interested please email Fr. Chris at rector@church-resurrection.org.

POWER OF THE SAVIOR IN OUR MUSIC
Cheryl Sanders

Worship in these times has been very different. The strength lies in the beauty and power of the liturgy. There are so many parts of worship that have adapted to the quarantine, some, like music with difficulty. We must focus not on what we’ve gotten used to but to what endures. We may not be singing corporately but we can still praise God and raise our spirits by music. I have included the hymns that were chosen for this past Sunday in YouTube attachments.

The first hymn is Christ is made the sure foundation. At the heart of our worship is the power of Christ to reach into our hearts and hold us in love. This power is forever and not diminished by the challenges of today. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cR9NHXnbxlU

The closing hymn is O God of every nation. This hymn was suggested by one of our members, Mary Lew Finster. She feels it speaks to the issues of our time. Prayer must proceed any action and this hymn is a wonderful grounding in God’s power to heal and lead.  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OfvR_NL6MHk

For your inspiration, I’ve also included an anthem. I hope these offerings give you the experience of the beauty of music when it praises the power of Christ.  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tO_is6VPn3w

Watch over your children, O Lord, as their days increase; bless and guide them wherever they may be. Strengthen them when they stand; comfort them when discouraged or sorrowful; raise them up if they fall; and in their hearts may your peace which passes understanding abide all the days of their lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

ANNIVERSARIES

There are no anniversaries this week

O God, you have so consecrated the covenant of marriage that in it is represented the spiritual unity between Christ and his Church: Send therefore your blessing upon these your servants, that they may so love, honor, and cherish each other in faithfulness and patience, in wisdom and true godliness, that their home may be a haven of blessing and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

PRAYER LIST ADDITIONS

Deborah, Maggie, Randy, Donna, Kara, Leroy, Jamie, Richard, Pattie, Carol, Layla,
