THURSDAY BIBLE STUDY - MAY  28 AT 10:00 AM VIA ZOOM

We are studying The Pastoral Letters (1 and 2 Timothy and Titus) at our Thursday morning bible study. This week we will be looking in depth at 1 Timothy 5:1- 6:2. Here are some discussion questions that will guide our conversation.
  1. How would you compare the ancient system of dealing with older people to our modern system?
  2. What possible abuses does Paul imply in vss. 4-8, vss. 9-10, and vss. 11-15?
  3. How do you react to the idea that a person who does not provide for their family is "worse than an unbeliever"?
  4. According to this passage, what are our responsibilities to our immediate family To other relatives?
  5. What are church elders to receive "double honor"? Why do some elders deserve public rebuke?
  6. How do the instructions in vss. 6:1-2 apply to your work/ministry situation?

Join us next Thursday (May 28) at 10:00 a.m. Here is the link you will need: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83322341114. You can also call  in: (346) 248- 7799     Meeting ID: 833 2234 1114

IN PERSON WORSHIP TO RESUME JUNE 7

Next Sunday (May 31) the vestry and their families will gather for Eucharist at 9 am in the sanctuary. As with all our services going forward, it will be live streamed via YouTube.  We will then begin in-person worship on Sunday, June 7 with one service at 9 a.m in the sanctuary. Our goal is to move to two services as soon as possible. Please be aware that we will adjust these dates or consider reclosing, based on community spread of COVID-19. While it is exciting that the restrictions are being lifted, we do not want to be lulled into a false sense of security.

We have taken every effort to minimize the risk of spreading Covid-19, however we can not eliminate the risk. If you choose to attend in-person worship - you risk exposure to the virus. If you are in the "most vulnerable" category, feel sick, or simply don't feel comfortable worshiping in a confined space with other people, we will live stream the service via YouTube so you can participate in the service remotely in real time.

Live stream is also the perfect opportunity to invite your friends and family around the country to participate in our worship service.

SEEING YOU SEEING ME
Cheryl Sanders

If Liturgy is the work of the people, community is the battleground of the people. Battleground may seem like a strong word, but our swift but necessary experiences with digital media have at times felt like a battle. Any victory came as a result of our strong sense of community ( and Father Chris’ hard work) We’ve probably all had a feeling that you’ll never take a hug for granted again ... or to be just sitting in the church.

Hard to believe but Zoom even has some advantages.. each person is acknowledged as they enter and all listen as one person talks. We’ve had to develop skills to determine when we can speak. It’s actually more personal in some ways. It’s also been nice getting to know some of the pets. Even being digital, it was a thrill to see each face enter. Maybe we should sit in silence and greet each person entering collectively in live church!

Soon we will get to be a live worshiping community. We may be socially distanced and wearing masks but the spirit of love between us transcends the medium of worship. It will be so good to be in the same room again and exciting to know we are electronically accessible for those not able to join us physically.

The Quarantine has reminded us that the church is not a building but our community of faith! So as we see each of you enter when we return - please excuse me if I say out each name. So good to see you! Community is the heart of worship!

Watch over your children, O Lord, as their days increase; bless and guide them wherever they may be. Strengthen them when they stand; comfort them when discouraged or sorrowful; raise them up if they fall; and in their hearts may your peace which passes understanding abide all the days of their lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

ANNIVERSARIES

None this week.

O God, you have so consecrated the covenant of marriage that in it is represented the spiritual unity between Christ and his Church: Send therefore your blessing upon these your servants, that they may so love, honor, and cherish each other in faithfulness and patience, in wisdom and true godliness, that their home may be a haven of blessing and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
