IN-PERSON WORSHIP SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Because of the significant spike in COVID-19 cases, we have once again suspended in-person worship. Unfortunately, because of the large numbers of people coming down with the virus, it's hard to know when we will be able to get back together. We will continue to offer services via YouTube and will find other ways to interact as best we can. In the meantime, it is very important that we all continue to wear our masks in public, social distance, and stay home if possible in order to keep each other and our neighbors safe. DONATIONS FOR ALTAR FLOWERS ARE BEING ACCEPTED.
If you would like to donate the altar flowers there is a sign up sheet in the narthex or you can click here
to order online. The cost is $30. People often donate them in celebration of birthdays and anniversaries or to remember loved ones. Or sometimes just because. If you have any questions contact Gera Chestnutt.
PLEASE CONTINUE YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS
As we spend this time in isolation, we are still capable of small acts of generosity. Please continue your contributions to the Church as they enable larger acts in your name. You can either donate online via the Church website http://www.church-resurrection.org/give-with-us
OR you can drop a check in the mail - The church address is 5909 Walzem Rd. Windcrest TX 78218. Thank you for your continued support - Dorcas Sampson, Sr. Warden.
ARTICLES AND ITEMS OF INTEREST
THURSDAY BIBLE STUDY - AUGUST 20 AT 10:00 AM VIA ZOOM
We are studying The Pastoral Letters (1 and 2 Timothy and Titus) at our Thursday morning bible study. This week we will finish our study of the Pastoral Letters by taking an in-depth look at Titus 3:1-15. Here are some discussion questions that will guide our conversation.
- Why do you think Paul stresses "doing good"? What about human nature makes reminders necessary?
- Does vs. 3 also paint a picture of your past life? To what degree? Were/are these characteristics an obvious part of your life or an underlying reality?
- What good do you do at home? At church? In your city?
- What do verses 4-7 say about God's character? His work in us?
- How does a true understanding of these verses promote humility? Gratitude? A life of service? Have you seen this happen in your life?
- What is going on with the people in verses 9-11? How do Paul's instructions reflect both "tough love" and uncompromising righteousness? What similar situations happen in today's church?
- Over the past year, where have you sensed growth in leading a "productive" life for God?
We will begin a study on the Prophets next Thursday (Aug 27).
LOOKING FOR A PARISH ARTIST TO DESIGN ALTERNATIVE GIFT FAIR DONOR CARDS
Every year the Foreign and Domestic Missions Committee hosts an alternative gifts fair on the first two Sundays of Advent. This is an opportunity for each of us to donate to several non-profit organizations on behalf of, in memory of, in thanksgiving for, or in honor of someone we care about.
As the committee meets to decide which organizations they will be raising funds for, they are looking for someone to design the donor cards. These will also be sold as Christmas Cards. If you are interested, please send your design to Ferol Senter email@example.com
by August 26.
PSALMS PROJECT - NEW VIDEO ADDED
With the addition of Psalm 139 we now have ten Psalms posted on YouTube and a few more in the works. You can view them by clicking here
. Invite your friends to view them and use them in your daily devotions. The psalms are primarily hymns and they need to be spoken and/or sung in order to receive the full impact of what they are saying to us and for us.
There are plenty more Psalms to be recorded. If you would like to participate or have already participated and would like to record some more Psalms contact Fr. Chris at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A LITTLE HUMOR
"A sense of humor is God's antidote for anger and frustration.".
Linda Randall (8/24)
Watch over your children, O Lord, as their days increase; bless and guide them wherever they may be. Strengthen them when they stand; comfort them when discouraged or sorrowful; raise them up if they fall; and in their hearts may your peace which passes understanding abide all the days of their lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Blessings to all celebrating Anniversaries this week.
O God, you have so consecrated the covenant of marriage that in it is represented the spiritual unity between Christ and his Church: Send therefore your blessing upon these your servants, that they may so love, honor, and cherish each other in faithfulness and patience, in wisdom and true godliness, that their home may be a haven of blessing and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
PRAYER LIST ADDITIONS

Almighty God, giver of life and health: Send your blessing on all who are in trouble, sorrow,
need, sickness or any other adversity, and upon those who minister to them, that all weakness may
be vanquished by the triumph of the risen Christ; who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.
Prayer requests are kept in this list and in the prayers of the people until the end of any given month unless otherwise requested. If you would like to view the complete parish prayer list click here
