The SDTFS Virtual Annual Show

Every year, during the first weekend of November, the San Diego Tropical Fish Society hosts the SDTFS Annual Show. Because of COVID-19 and the pandemic’s social distancing guidelines, for the health and safety of all attendees, the San Diego Tropical Fish Society has pivoted to present the Annual Show as a virtual event.

The SDTFS Virtual Annual Show shall maintain the core elements of what has made the In-Person Annual Show a continued success, not just for the fishkeeping hobbyist and aquarist communities but also for San Diego tourism, particularly at its traditional in-person venue of the historic Casa del Prado in the world-famous Balboa Park.

While the online three-day event is not the same as being in-person, it is the hope of SDTFS that the Virtual Annual Show will — through our online platform — provide enjoyable visions of aquariums full of fish and aquatic life, in the spirit of conservation, ecology, and best practices stewardship of aquatic organisms, both freshwater and marine. Guest speakers will also provide online presentations to promote learning and education, as they apply to fishkeeping, the aquarium hobby, and ecological conservation.

SDTFS Virtual Show Entry Form

It's been a rough 8 months with all that has been going on with pandemic and in California especially where we have been shutdown more then once!  We have not been able to hold our regular meetings, but we have stepped up and doing Zoom Meetings thus not endangering any of our member's or the public.

With that said we want to Thank Steve @ Coral Farmer Market for putting together a Covid plan for hosting a Frag Meet at Double Tree Hilton for our 2nd show since 2019. Check out the floor plan that Steve has set up:

(Layout and number of vendors booths may change depending on local County rules and local health Dept.)

So we hope you and your family can find time to stop by and check it out.

The Coral Farmers MarketSM company and the Reef Raft USA company are bringing another Coral Show to San Diego. Our second annual San Diego Coral Farmers MarketSM event occurs on November 22nd 2020. This second coral show event will be open to the public between 11 am to 5 pm on Sunday November 22nd.

The location is a hotel ballroom in the popular Hotel Circle area north of downtown San Diego. Parking is just $5 for attendees and it was comped in 2019. We shall see how 2020 goes. There will be a few thousand captive grown and cultured coral fragments displayed. From beginner corals to advanced and collector corals. This event is organized by Steve Tyree of the CFM. Tony Huyanh of Reef Raft USA will be operating the event. This CFM event promotes captive grown and aquacultured organisms.

The floorplan has spacing and social dividers added. Other measures will be added as the event draws near. In 2021 we will be going biannual with this event. April and November will be the event months.

Please note - Due to current California restrictions we are limiting online ticket sales to 150. Attendance tickets online are just $5 with children 12 and under free. We were at 100 sold on September 11th at noon. Online sales will stop a few days before the event.

Then tickets may only be available at the door the day of the event. At the door ticket prices are higher and only available if occupancy permits. The ticket purchase link is located below.

We are working on possibly having Clownfish Corral for our November Zoom Meeting, which will be earlier in month because of Thanksgiving.
