Downtown Dialogue — What's Up Downtown
In this month's Downtown Dialogue:

Happy Holidays from the DBA!

The Holiday Season is officially upon us! The downtown lights create a magical thoroughfare down Main and Front streets, WinterSkate is open for skaters, and the Horse & Carriage will traverse downtown every weekend through December! The Holidays are definitely NOT cancelled and this year we encourage you to do your holiday shopping at our downtown shops, restaurants and services. Gift cards are an especially great option for restaurants and services – perfect stocking stuffers! – and who doesn’t like a delicious meal, spa day or visit to the salon? Thank you again for supporting local businesses and we wish you a very Happy Holiday!

Outdoor Dining Update

We want to take this opportunity to thank the citizens, restaurants, retailers, and service providers who emailed and spoke to the City about the Outdoor Dining Program on Main Street. However, the City determined to reopen Main Street to vehicular traffic, which is expected to occur on or before December 7. In place of the street closure, the City will implement limited on-street dining in selected parking spaces and additional take-out pickup locations. We urge Friends of Downtown, with proper masks and social distancing, to come check it out, have a meal on a patio, visit a retailer, buy gift cards, check out their websites, and order take out, take out, take out, to help our small businesses stay open, pay their employees, and make it to better times. Thank you for your continued support during Small Business Season. Downtown needs you.

Special Thank You
to our Carriage Ride Sponsors!

A huge THANK YOU to E&L Team at Re/Max Elevate, Mountain High Appliance, The Singing Cook, Fox Property Management, Old Friends, Louisville Realty Associates, Boulder Creek Neighborhoods, and Great Western Bank for sponsoring this season’s Carriage Rides! Because of you we are able to continue this wonderful downtown holiday tradition!

Lenny and Sara Martinelli are longtime Louisville residents. They purchased their Old Town home in 1992 after they both graduated from the University of Colorado, and raised their three children in Louisville. The Martinellis own a local restaurant company, Three Leaf Concepts, which includes Louisville restaurants The Huckleberry and Zucca. In Boulder, they also have the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse, The Chautauqua Dining Hall, and Leaf Vegetarian.  In addition to their restaurants, the Martinellis own a small, organic farm in Lafayette, Three Leaf Farm, on which they grow organic foods for their restaurants and offer a wide variety of educational experiences, tours, and workshops throughout the year about agriculture, herbal medicine and homesteading topics. Their primary focus has been on sustainable food systems, environmentally sound business practices, and community involvement. You can learn more about the Martinellis by visiting their farm website, www.threleaffarm.com.

Mountain High Appliance

Thank You!
1130 Pine St.

Hello Friends,
Thank you for supporting our local, family owned business for over 27 years. We are Colorado's most complete appliance source, and it will always be our pleasure to serve you. We are currently experiencing a world-wide shortage of major household appliances. Because of slowed production, due to plants being closed following the effects of COVID-19, the shortage is literally everywhere across the globe. The result is long wait times for the delivery of many appliances you purchase from any retailer.

But, there is some good news. We have an ever-changing inventory of hundred’s products available in our Denver Clearance Center. Please see the Clearance section at mountainhighappliance.com/outlet. Visit a showroom, give us a call or chat with an appliance expert online today. Our showrooms are open, following the latest safety CDC guidelines. Please learn more about our commitment to community safety here: https://www.mountainhighappliance.com/safety

Mountain High Appliance is dedicated to working with you honestly, listening to your needs, and providing you with the information you want to make an educated decision about your appliance purchase, including honest information about delivery times and product availability. You can always count on us for the latest industry news and updates.

Our hearts go out to everyone who has been painfully effected by the pandemic. We’ll get through this together, Louisville, and be a stronger community as a result.

Sincerely,
Brad Barnett, President

Tidbits

Historic Building

The Weaver House
823 Garfield Ave.

The Weaver family built this house in 1910 and occupied it for 37 years. The house is one of a small number of Edwardian vernacular houses in Louisville, which were somewhat less ornate than Victorian houses and popular in England at the time. It's believed to be the first in Louisville to have indoor plumbing.

The Weaver house is notable for its role in housing Louisville teachers. It is across the street from the early location of Louisville's high/junior high school. After the death of John Weaver in 1926, Mary Weaver rented out rooms to three teachers at a time. Students would also come there after school for tutoring.

The property has been owned by Linda and Ron Knutson since 1985.
