May 2021
Dear Friends,

We are proud of the work of our Community Foundation Family, nonprofit partners, and generous donors have accomplished in the past year. Looking back at the past 13 months since the Disaster Support Fund opened, over $640,000 has been distributed to support thousands of SLO County residents. Through the Spring General Grant Cycle, 77 nonprofit partners received funds to continue their tireless work for our community. Our Donor Advised Funds have awarded 104 grants totaling nearly $394,000 just in the past three months.

As we enter Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to recognize the tireless work of our nonprofit partners and the stress and hardships put upon their teams. If you or anyone you know needs additional resources regarding mental health, please reach out to the Transitions-Mental Health Association's Central Coast hotline at 800-783-0607. Everyday, I am proud to be a part of this wonderful community that is constantly fighting to improve the quality of life for all.

With gratitude,

Heidi H. McPherson
Chief Executive Officer
Spotlights and Highlights
Story of Impact • 5Cities Homeless Coalition

To assist those that have been faced financial hardships during the COVID-19 pandemic, 5Cities Homeless Coalition (5CHC) has partnered with the State of California's COVID-19 Rent Relief Program. 5CHC is offering multi-lingual assistance free of charge to those that need help applying online for this rent and utility assistance. The only way to apply is through the State's online portal; this has provided complications for some SLO County residents.
"We've been connecting with landlords and property management companies to identify tenants who may not have access to the internet or those with limited digital literacy as well as passing out flyers at local food pantries, agriculture jobs, churches, and many more to ensure we can help as many people as possible." - Devon McQuade, Associate Director of 5Cities Homeless Coalition.
Since the start of the program, they have already assisted over 30 households in SLO County in applying for the CA COVID-19 Rent Relief Program and connected hundreds more to this vital resource. To learn more, visit their website at 5chc.org/featured/ca-covid-19-rent-relief-program.
