It’s been a little while since I’ve sent y’all a proper update on what’s been happening in Austin, Texas - so thanks for being patient! These past few months have been full of exciting transitions and new challenges. I've had the privilege of working with some beautiful and resilient DMST survivors, who have challenged me and taught me so much about grace, strength, and learning how to unconditionally love. I've also moved into my very own apartment, I started going to a new church and small group, and I am over halfway done with two of my graduate school classes! It’s been quite the adventure!
AND I also have some big news to share with you all...
On November 10th - 25th, I will be traveling back to Africa in partnership with Anne Abok of MeCAHT (Media Campaign Against Human Trafficking) and Kyle Miller of Global Care and Response (GCR)! During November 13-15th, I will be presenting at the 6th Annual MeCAHT Conference for Anne in Johannesburg, South Africa. Each year this conference hosts delegates from all over the world who work for NGO’s, international ministries, safehouses, and government organizations. I will have the privilege of teaching a session on how to build healthy and restorative relationships with sex trafficking survivors in recovery. This topic is near and dear to my heart, and I hope to help equip and empower as many people as possible during my time slot, so that more caregivers and survivors can experience hope and healing. Please pray for God to give me ample amounts of knowledge and wisdom as I prepare my presentation for this event!
After the MeCAHT conference, I will be working with Kyle of GCR to help present a one day Beatitude Trauma Model Training (BTM) for individuals who want to work with victims and survivors of trafficking. The BTM is Christ-centered approach to trauma healing that focuses on the Beatitudes found in Matthew 5. The BTM training will help caregivers learn how to receive comfort from God and give comfort to others, while also teaching them how to heal from their own trauma, overcome trauma triggers, and prevent burnout when working with survivors.
The rest of the trip will be spent in Abuja, Nigeria where I will be teaching two sessions at a workshop for 11 safehouses. Last year, this workshop only had 4 safehouses in attendance, so it’s fantastic and encouraging to see the growth that has happened after just one year! After the workshop, I will be returning to the Greater Love Lighthouse (GLL) restoration home for sex trafficking survivors, where I will have the opportunity to spend a few days co-teaching another self-defense class with the residents living in the home! Last year was the first time I was able to visit GLL, so I am excited to return and spend some more quality time with the girls. Having the chance to continue cultivating relationships with my survivor sisters and the safehouse staff in Nigeria is such a blessing!
I am so excited to have another opportunity to serve alongside my incredible friends and ministry partners overseas, and I know God will do amazing things during those 15 days!
Here are a few prayer requests for this trip...
- Please pray for safety, good health, and protection during all six flights to Africa and back (a total of 22,523 miles)!
- Please pray for all of the conferences and the delegates and speakers who will be in attendance.
- Please pray for the survivors living at GLL, and for their continued healing and restoration.
- Please pray for the caregivers and the safehouse staff that we will be training, for endurance, perseverance, and protection as they strive to help our survivor sisters heal and find hope for their futures.
- Please pray for financial provision to cover all of the expenses for this trip, and on that note...
I would like to ask for your support! All of the teachings and trainings that I will be doing at the conferences and workshops are on a voluntary basis, so I will need to pay for my flights, hotels, meals, and transportation costs out of pocket. I would greatly appreciate any donations made to help fund this mission, so please pray about joining forces with me to make it happen!
Since I will be partnering with Global Care and Response (GCR), any donations made towards this trip will be tax deductible, yay! And 100% of the money donated will go directly to GCR to cover all of the expenses for this trip. Here is the donation link:

Thank you all in advance for your continued prayers and support in this new season, and thank you for joining me in the fight against human trafficking. As I have said many times before, I couldn’t do it without your help and partnership! I look forward to updating you all from Africa, and I will make sure to send out another update once I return from the trip (with lots of photos included)!
Love you guys!
