UNCW opens The Shore Dining Hall

After months of hungrily and patiently waiting for construction to be completed, The Shore Dining Hall has now opened its doors to the students of UNCW.

The Shore is located behind the Recreation Center and can be accessed via Price Drive or from the paths that connect it to The Hub lawn. The dining hall officially opened its doors to all UNCW students on Oct. 6 and it has regular weekday hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the weekends. The Shore serves as a conveniently closer dining option for students living around The Hub, and it also delivers more food options for the entire student population as a whole.

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW’s Audrey Harding netted her 20th career goal in Sunday’s game against No. 10 Hofstra (12-1, 4-0 Colonial Athletic Association) and became just the 10th woman in program history to score 20 or more goals.

Harding’s record-setting goal came off a free kick sent by senior defender Carey Allard with 14:41 remaining in the match. Sunday’s goal against the Pride marked Harding’s fifth score up to that point in 2021 after netting a pair of goals in two games earlier this season. The graduate forward extended her scoring total to 21 during Thursday’s win against Drexel (5-5-2, 1-2-1 CAA).

With the start of a new semester, both new and returning on-campus students moved into their new housing assignments excited for an in-person experience, the first for some since the pandemic’s initial outbreak. The delta variant continues to threaten that hope, but campus life has persisted in spite of it, allowing a sense of normalcy to return to the college environment. However, an unexpected beast arose in this perfect storm of returners—namely, the wildly oversaturated parking situation on campus.

REVIEW: Wilmington is the backdrop for grisly murders and nonsensical characters in ‘Halloween Kills’

The long-awaited sequel to 2018’s “Halloween” introduces several story elements to the new canon. “Halloween Kills” is a darker and more violent sequel that further explores the mythology of serial killer Michael Myers and sets the stage for the closing film of the trilogy, titled “Halloween Ends.” Fans may walk into the film with certain expectations, such as a greater focus on main character Laurie Strode or a more direct confrontation between her and Michael; however, the film subverts expectations by giving attention to supporting characters and setting the stage for a grand finale.
