Demand the Heroes Act!

This week, we passed 2 million total coronavirus cases in the United States. The Heroes Act, which the House passed, has money for COVID-19 testing, support to state and local government, saves the Post Office, helps the unemployed, and other essential measures - but Mitch McConnel won't bring it to a vote.  Call Senator Van Hollen (202-224-4654)  and Senator Cardin (301-762-2974) and ask them to demand that the Senate vote on the Heroes Act.
Our Defend Democracy Team is asking that we support voting by mail for the November election.  In order for the ballots to be sent in time, Governor Hogan needs to instruct the State Board of Elections to begin the process.  The League of Women Voters in concert with Common Cause and others have already sent a letter to the governor.  Please reach out to the governor on an individual basis to help insure voting by mail in this time of an ongoing pandemic.
We need YOU to win in November!

The Red2Blue team has been asked to write another 3,000 postcards to left leaning Independents in Polk County Florida, textbank for Jaime Harrison in South Carolina, and phonebank for Democratic candidates in South Central PA.  We need more people!  Email with subject line "help Red2Blue" and we'll get you set up.  Don't worry if you've never done it before - Red2Blue members can coach you by Zoom.

Education Alert: Governor Hogan has proposed over $300 million worth of cuts to public education. These cuts would impact every county and every school. Combined with the uncertainty for the upcoming school year, these cuts are simply unacceptable.

The next step for the proposed cuts is a vote by the Board of Public Works (Governor Hogan is one of the Board's three members). On Wednesday, July 1st, the Board will consider the first set of cuts, $110 million of the proposed $345 million.

🚨 We need you to send a message to members of the Board of Public Works and tell them to oppose education funding cuts. Be sure to click here. 🚨

June 22nd the Howard County Coalition for Immigrant Justice rallied to support ending the ICE contract.
