Community Spotlight: EA DC Organizers Andy and Kyle!
We now have two full time community organizers working for EA DC!
Andy Masley
Andy (he/him) has been a part-time organizer for EA DC since April 2021 and was thrilled to accept a position as a full-time organizer at the beginning of June. He first became interested in effective altruism through the philosopher Derek Parfit in 2013 and has followed the movement closely ever since. He was a double major in philosophy and physics and taught high school physics for 7 years prior to organizing full-time.
Andy enjoys reading, music, spending time with friends and family, exercise (especially weight lifting), and exploring the DC vegan food scene. Outside of EA DC he works on a small side project making educational physics videos on his YouTube channel. You can always email Andy here!
Kyle Lucchese
Kyle (they/them) has been a full-time organizer with EA DC since April 2022. They first became interested in the ideas of Effective Altruism through Peter Singer’s The Life You Can Save in 2009. In the years since, they pledged to donate at least 10% of their income to effective charities and donated a kidney in a non-directed donation.
Kyle is a researcher of nonviolent protest methods as a means of effecting change. Kyle holds an M.I.A. in International Affairs (Ethics and Human Rights) and a B.S. in Business Administration (Management and Marketing).Their previous fields of work include higher education administration and international development fundraising and consulting. Kyle enjoys cooking, hiking, listening to podcasts, meditating, photography, reading, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and writing. You can email Kyle here or schedule time on their calendar here.
