Spotlight: EA DC volunteer committees!

This month we're highlighting EA DC's new volunteer committees! EA DC has a lot of exciting plans and goals for the upcoming year. To accomplish these goals we’re planning to organize EA DC volunteers into committees!  If you are interested in volunteering as little as 2 hours a week by serving on a committee please fill out this form

What are the committees?

Our vision is for each of the committees below to have around two to five people on them, with one person as the “chair” taking on a bit more responsibility. The time commitment of a committee member is as little as 2 hours a week, and a chair would be asked to commit to on average around 4 hours a week.  At this point we think the following committees make sense but please let us know if you have other ideas!

  • Operations / leadership (setting strategic goals, establishing procedures, general leadership and community health)
  • Communications (social media channels, newsletter, publicizing events, website)
  • Outreach / welcome wagon (reaching out to new members of the community, and other groups / people we could collaborate with)
  • Events  (planning events, running them)
  • [Your committee idea here!]

Why committees?

We would like to divide the work of organizing EA DC so that each volunteer has a smaller and more discrete chunk, and also give many people an opportunity to get involved. We’d also like to make sure in our new structure it is crystal clear who is responsible for doing what.

Do you know someone in our community that should be in the spotlight? Maybe you have just published a book, gotten a new job, or started a new charity or project? If you have an idea for a future spotlight please email us to let us know!
