Community Spotlight: Max Broad and DC Veg Restaurant Week

Our very own Animal Welfare organizer extraordinaire, Max Broad, has, after extensive advocacy and the signing of a proclamation by DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, successfully launched Washington DC's first-ever vegan restaurant week!

As its organizer, Max brought together eight partner organizations lead by DC Voters for Animals Education Fund and worked with volunteers to recruit the Week's 30+ restaurants. The intent is to use "celebration" as an intervention--a tool to make the public more familiar and friendly to foods that reduce animal suffering and climate impacts, all while contributing to positive public health outcomes.

DC Veg Restaurant Week starts with a launch party at 4:00 PM this Saturday, May 7 and will run through May 14. Follow @DCvegweek on social media as they will be giving away prizes, gift cards, and vegan goodies. More details at vegdc.org.

Celebrate at a joint meetup with the Animal Welfare Group and the Veg Society of DC at Chaia Tacos in Bethesda, MD on Tuesday, May 10 at 7:00 PM!

🥳 Congratulations, Max! 🥳
