Sadly University Cancels Homecoming Events
Many of us had been looking forward to in-person Homecoming activities this year, but given the continued course of the pandemic, the university has made the decision to cancel or modify most in-person events.
The Homecoming football game and the Class of 2020 Commencement ceremony will continue as planned. These events have public health measures in place, including limited attendance and mandatory masking. The traditional Homecoming Fan Festival, fireworks and laser show are canceled.
Student and alumni events during Homecoming in the sorority and fraternity community are always an integral part of the weekend. However, to support our campus community’s public health efforts, sororities and fraternities are unable to host alumni gatherings or receptions during Homecoming weekend, September 17 - 19. Thus, the dinner planned for Saturday, September 18 at the DKE House is cancelled.
We have some alumni-focused activities in the works that we will share shortly. In the meantime, we encourage our alums to stay connected.
We are hopeful as the numbers of COVID-19 cases continue to decrease on campus that we will be able to host events later in the year. Please reach out to me or the chapter if you have questions or want to plan a visit.
