Return-To-Campus Info
The following message went out to students last week from Brian Daniel, assistant dean of students and director of residence life.
Greetings, Lions,
We are so excited to welcome you back to campus! Please read this Return to Campus information carefully, as it provides detailed information.
Move-in Dates/Times for Returning Students
Returning students have two options for move-in times:
- Saturday, January 29: 1-4pm
- Sunday, January 30: 1-4pm
Student check-in location will be at the Chapel to be tested for COVID. Students will also clear any stops they need to take care of before they move into their residence hall.
Late Move-ins
All students who are not able to arrive during the move-in times must get tested before attending their first class. Please report to the Ammons Fieldhouse to get tested before your class on Monday morning from 7am-10am if you do not make it to check-in on Saturday or Sunday. If you are arriving after 10am on Monday, please reach out to our staff who are overseeing testing at 828.689.1176 to schedule a time to get tested.
COVID Testing
We will be testing each student as they move-in due to the increased transmission levels of the Omicron variant. Students who test positive will have to isolate at home. If students cannot isolate at home, they can do so in Edna Moore.
Students who are not fully vaccinated will be subject to testing on Tuesdays from 10am-noon in the Ammons Field House.
We hope to offer vaccine and booster clinics on campus so that students can become fully vaccinated.
Vaccine Card
For those who have not sent their vaccination card, or for those who have added a vaccination over the break, please email Student Health (renee_sprinkle@mhu.edu) with a picture of your vaccination card.
COVID Guidelines
The COVID guidelines will remain the same:
- Masking is required while indoors. You do not need to mask while you are outside. However, you must mask in residence halls, classrooms, while inside buildings, and while in the dining hall (unless you are actively eating)
- Guests: You may continue to visit friends in other residence halls. However, gatherings in residence halls with 10 students or more are subject to suspension from residence halls. No non-MHU student guests are allowed in residence halls
- Testing: Non-vaccinated students will be subject to weekly testing on Tuesdays from 10-noon.
Campus community members can hold other members accountable through the COVID Accountability Form (https://form.jotform.com/202323771643047)
Textbooks
Any student that is on campus now is welcome to come by the Cornwell center any time between 10 and 4, Monday through Friday. Also any student that is close enough to campus that would like to come early can come by during these hours. Hours beginning Monday, January 31, will be 9 to 4 for the first week of classes. Textbook pick up during orientation on the 28th will also be 9 to 4.
Keys and ID Cards
Please visit the Student Life Office on the 3rd floor of Wren on Saturday or Sunday 1-4pm if you lost your ID card or key. A representative will be there to help.
Work Orders
We have a brand-new work order system that we are really excited about. This system will allow you to stay in the know of any updates to your request. This will require you to sign up for an account. Please see the attachment for more details or ask your RA for assistance. Access the work order form on myMHU at this link.
Student Handbook & Student Rights and Responsibilities
Please review our Student Handbook to review our university policies and procedures. Please note the Rights and Responsibilities section beginning on page 52 (https://www.mhu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/2021-2022-Student-Handbook.pdf)
We look forward to seeing you back on campus! Please email residence-life@mhu.edu with any questions regarding move-in.
Sincerely,
Dean Daniel
