Romans

Paul and the Gospel

I find language very interesting. "It's amazing how we are able to put together sounds, tones, and pitch to enable them to render specific meanings, as well as how we are able to translate those words into new languages which will represent the same idea and meaning." It isn’t always easy, but when it works, we are able to communicate our thoughts to others and vice-versa.

For example, our English word “think” comes from the Latin word “muse”. Now, if you put the letter “a” before such a word you get “amuse” which bears the idea to “not think”. Can you see the significance in just this word? There must be something Satan understands about not wanting us to think. As a society, he has us spending billions of dollars every summer on “amusements” – things that keep us from thinking. Now, stop and “think”, why would he want to do that with us?

As I’ve spent my life studying the Word of God, I’ve taken a liking to the writings of the apostle Paul. It’s obvious that he was a highly intelligent individual fully inspired by the Spirit of God. I believe that he is one who wants us to “think”, and I think that if you’ll join me in our study of his letter to the church in Rome, you’ll find that he is the “question and answer” man. In order to make sure we grasp the fullness of the gospel Paul asks questions about biblical truths that get us thinking.

Please join us this Sunday as we begin our in-depth study through the book of Romans.
