Just Two More Days To Vote!
By Mail * Early * Election Day
Mayor - City Clerk - Wards 4 & 8
Make sure you vote in the Evanston Municipal Primary Election! On the ballot are races that have more than two candidates, including Mayor, City Clerk* and Alderpeople in Wards 4 & 8. The top two candidates** will be on the ballot on April 6, along with all the other wards and the school board races.

**If one candidate gets more than 50% of the vote, they will win their race and there will not be a runoff in April. Still undecided? See links below for candidate interviews and local endorsements. It's important to cast your vote in this primary!

*The City Clerk race has one candidate on the ballot (Stephanie Mendoza) and a space to write in a second candidate (or not). More information
HERE about the race and write-in candidates.

Mail-In Ballots: Return ASAP - must be postmarked by 2/23!
  • No Evanston drop boxes -- you can drop at the Skokie Courthouse today (2/22).
  • Ballot not received? If you requested your ballot and did not receive it, or if you can't find it, you can still cast your vote in person! Just tell the election judge and you'll be able to cast a provisional ballot. Your vote will be verified and counted once the Clerk determines that your mail-in ballot was not received.
  • Change your mind? If you change your mind and want to vote in person, just bring your BLANK mail-in ballot to the polls and turn it in to the election judge.
Early Voting in Person: located at the Civic Center
  • Vote TODAY and avoid lines on Tuesday!
  • 2/22: 9 am to 5 pm.
  • New voter? You can register and vote in person at the Civic Center during early voting.
Election Day: Tuesday, 2/23 at your regular polling place

Our February Indivisible Evanston Meeting was a great success.  We would like to thank U.S. Congress Woman Cheri Bustos and Kerry Warren-Couch, a family farm owner in Southern Illinois. They shared their experiences and advice on bridging the divisions between the Democratic Party and rural voters. Nick Uniejewski of Indivisible National gave us an update on initiatives relating to rural voters.  A  recording of the meeting is available until March 15th. A resource guide on rural issues is available here.

Do you get frustrated when you see lies and misinformation on social media? Responding directly to the sender of the disinformation just increases the circulation of the original posting so don't respond. That doesn't mean there is nothing you can do. Instead, join us in spreading the truth! When we share and amplify unified, factual message to those who trust us, we shift the narrative. Sign up to join Indivisible's Truth Brigade here

Our next Truth Brigade call: Wednesday, February 24 at 5:30 p.m. Central. This call is both a workshop and office hours, so if you’re new to the Brigade or have lingering (or new) questions, please come! Fighting disinformation is a team effort, which means the more comfortable you are with the project, the stronger we’ll all be! Sign up here.

The Blue Wave Postcard Movement is asking for assistance - Help write postcards mobilizing West Virginia activists to contact Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), urge him to support H.R.1/S.1 - For the People Act, and not allow Mitch McConnell to kill it with a filibuster. Manchin’s support may be the key to passing the Act in Congress. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to protect and enhance democracy in our country. However, it won't happen unless more people advocate for it.  Order postcard kits here.  ($12 for 200 cards; $96.00 for 2000)

The filibuster has got to go. It's undemocratic: it empowers the minority to block the will of voters and of the American public, and it will be used by Republicans to block every single progressive priority: As long as the filibuster remains in place, McConnell will use it to block democracy reforms  and any other progressive priority.

Contact your Senators and tell them to act now to eliminate the filibuster. Talking points are available here.  Contact information for your representatives is available on our website here.
Take Action to Eliminate the Filibuster!

The victory isn't the election, it's the legislation.

Indivisible Evanston Mission Statement

  • To continue to resist the ongoing threat of Trumpism to our democracy.
  • To ensure Democrats take advantage of their control of the three branches of the federal government to make meaningful, progressive change in our country.
  • To increase the number of progressive legislators in Congress.

We do not expect our members or our allies to agree on all issues, but we invite those who agree progressive change is needed to work together on issues of common concern. We seek to be as inclusive and diverse as possible, and we are committed to non-violence in all our actions.
