Postcards to Swing States October 26: Last Postcards Go Out Today!
Thank you to all our wonderful Indivisible Evanston postcard writers! Since May, our group distributed, wrote, and now mailed approximately 320,00 handwritten postcards to voters in the swing states of MI, WI, TX, SC, FL and NC and for our IL candidates Reps. Lauren Underwood and Sean Casten. Last Wednesday, we mailed the bulk of our cards, including making two huge deliveries to mail the cards you returned to us to mail in Michigan and Wisconsin, thanks to Steve Sidell and Candace Davis! Today is the last day to finish writing and to send out your FL and NC postcards!
We want to give a huge shout out to Rosie Rees, Leslye Lapping and Candace Davis, who dedicated their lives for the past six months to organizing our postcard program. All three of them gave up their homes for daily postcard pickups, and hosted weekly Zoom postcard parties so volunteers could still write them together even though we couldn't have our in-person parties anymore. We could not have done this without their dedication, hard work, attention to detail and can-do attitudes!
We also want to thank our postcard shipping volunteers, who helped pack and ship 2.5 million cards and send them to writers all across the country over about eight weeks last summer from Laura Tanner's garage. Altogether, 15.7 MILLION handwritten postcards were mailed to 13 swing states and states with important Senate races, and we know that they are already reaching voters in time to have a huge impact on the election!

10/26 & 10/28 - WI Phone Banks
We’ll be transitioning to the WisDems State-wide Biden Coordinated List during our phone bank hours using Thrutalk, a dialer. We'll also have an OpenVPB option for those who prefer to call outside of phone bank hours - just sign up below!
Don’t know how to use Thrutalk? No worries - We’ll train you how to use Thrutalk during the first 30 minutes of the PB - no need to sign up for a separate training!
We Are Excited about Thrutalk because:
The system calls voters for you and connects you to people who have already picked up
Voters will see a party-picked number protecting your personal information
Laptop or computer plus charged phone (headphones help). Tablets can work but require Google Chrome app
Google Chrome works best (!) or Firefox (Safari doesn't work)
Why are we transitioning to the WisDems call lists? These calls lists have the most updated data on whether a voter has turned in their ballot or voted early in person. This is the most effective method we have of following up and encouraging voters to VOTE!
What we’ll be doing:
Calling voters across the state.
Urging voters with ballots to send them in or drop them off (“Ballot Chase”), encouraging voters who do not have ballots to vote early (“Early Vote in Person”) and then finally GOTV.
Asking voters for their vote for Biden/Harris and the down-ballot candidates in their district.
OpenVPB Links for those who like to call during the week will be available upon sign up: Calling is open from 9 - 8pm M-TH, F-Sat 9-7pm, Sun 12-7pm. All times CT _____________________________
THE LAST WEEKEND: 10/31, Nov 1-3; 12 shifts - 36 Hours of Phone banks! Call for WI, MI & IA!
We’re opening the phones all day, October 31, November 1, November 2, and November 3. Join these consolidated phone banks whenever you can and we’ll direct volunteers to call where you’re needed most in WI, MI & IA. All three states use Thrutalk, so once you learn it, you can make calls for any state.
Sign up for as many shifts as you can handle, and recruit friends to help fill the critical slots in these last four days. First time caller or need a refresher? We’ll provide as much training as you might need at the start of every three-hour shift to get you ready. WI & MI & IA Phone Banks: The Last Weekend, 10/31 - 11/3. We are just over a week from November 3, and people in Wisconsin, Michigan and other battleground states are already voting! Help us TOTV (Text Out The Vote) over the next week and for The Last Weekend (Oct 31 through Nov ) by signing up for our Zoom text banks. We are offering one MI and one WI text bank a day on Oct 31-Nov 3. We will be there with you to help you reply to voters, give technology support, and to play texting bingo (with prizes)!

In our final drive to flip Michigan blue, Indivisible Chicago has organized canvassing in SW Michigan to talk with Democratic voters we have not been able to reach through phone calls and texts. There is no carpooling, so participants are responsible for their own transportation. Pre-canvass health screening will be conducted at the Michigan staging location. PPE will be required and safety training will be provided on social distancing to protect volunteers and voters. Canvass locations will be 1.5-2 hours from Chicago. Additional details will be provided prior to the event. Oct 28, Oct 31, Nov 1-3: Canvass in Michigan with Indivisible Chicago
Thanks to everyone who's made calls (or postcarded or texted) this cycle to help re-elect Rep. Underwood to Congress in IL-14 - we're nearly there so can't stop now - please sign up to make calls these last 8 days!
Details haven't changed: Phonebanks go from 6-8 and are hosted by a member of Team Underwood. We're targeting 50 calls per person, but please make however many you can (you can always make more!) and you can hop off the call whenever you want. Host will provide training if needed and answer any questions about the script, etc. Can't make Thursdays? Join Indivisible Chicago's Tuesday Underwood phonebanks OR make calls on your own.
Help us gain a Senate Seatin Iowa! Theresa Greenfield (D) vs Joni Ernst (R)
Winning a Senate majority is more important than ever and our Midwest campaign now includes phone banks for Iowa Senate candidate Theresa Greenfield. She's in a toss-up race with incumbent Republican Joni Ernst and it's a seat we CAN flip--if we do the work. We're using Thru-talk so if you've used a dialer before this phone bank will be a breeze. JOIN TEAM CASTEN FOR PHONE BANKING TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS &
THE LAST WEEKEND!
We're calling folks to check in to see how they are doing, and if they will support Casten this November. We worked hard for these seats in 2018, and we'll need to work even harder to keep them for 2020!
Registering to vote has never been easier or more convenient. We have created a resouce that you can access on our website blog with all the details about making sure you are registered and have a plan to vote. We have included deadlines for things like registration (in person and online), requesting and returning your mail in ballot, ballot drop boxes, dates for early voting, election day information and more.

The mission of Indivisible Evanston is to resist Donald Trump, his administration, and like-minded Members of Congress, and to remove them all from office on November 3, 2020, before they replace our democracy with an authoritarian plutocracy. We do not expect our members or allies to agree on all issues, but we invite those who agree that the Trump presidency is harming our country to work together to replace him and his GOP enablers. We seek to be as inclusive and diverse as possible, and we are committed to non-violence in all our actions.
