Data Collection 101 - Trail Based Data Collection for New Volunteers

Volunteers collecting data as part of the CT Trail Census will be required to participate in this face to face training prior to collection times in May and September. Participants will learn how to prepare for and assess the CT Trail Census Intercept Survey including logistics and setup, safety, approaching trail users, checking for completeness, handling completed surveys, and volunteer hour tracking.  Participants will also be able to communicate the goals and purpose of the Trail Census and learn basic maintenance techniques for the infrared trail counters.  Trail coordinators will receive materials that they will need to conduct the intercept surveys.
