August is going by so fast. Are you taking the exam soon? Feeling confident? Need any help?

There's plenty of stuff to catch up on if you've been melting in the heat or sipping cocktails by a pool somewhere nice.

On the website you can get help with Reading, Writing and Listening

Reading: get my advice on how to deal with Matching Headings

The video is on YouTube but try the test yourself first!

Writing: the Band 9 essay which I talked about on my podcast - now you can read it and copy it!

Listening: all about Gender and Finance. Test yourself as you listen, then check your answers with explanations. Or watch my video on YouTube.

***Good News alert*** I've invested in new video editing software (Camtasia) to make my videos better! See the results on my new YouTube channel. And because I got 100 new followers this week I'm allowed to have my own channel name. Woo hoo!

Other hot topics we've been working on in the Facebook groups are:

Finally, we discovered a great British Council video resource page with subtitles and worksheets. 'How wolves change rivers' is a particularly useful one for IELTS topics and vocabulary.

🦌 deer over-grazed
🌱 vegetation decreased
🐺 wolves were re-introduced to the food chain
🦌 deer population went down
🌱 vegetation regenerated
🌊 erosion decreased
🦅 migratory birds returned
🐿 beavers returned and built dams (ok that's a chipmunk emoji)
🐸 amphibians came back
🌎 ecosystem recovered

And in the Members Academy,
  • I've started adding supplementary videos to go with the full 28-day course, so there's even more for you to practise.
  • I did a Facebook live to answer a common grammar question - How to use 'Not only...but also...' accurately to add emphasis in Task 2 Writing.
  • Eva recommended a useful app for recording and reviewing vocabulary (thanks Eva!)
  • I updated the Book of Band 9 Task 2 model answers - there are 30 colour-coded models there now for you to work with.
  • I added a vocabulary practice worksheet on the topic of 'Technology' following a request.
  • I've started the 28-days of IELTS vocabulary resource page! Hard work but exciting!

If you're considering joining the Academy, I'd love to have you there - all levels welcome.
  • Check out the video here for more information about what fabulous things are inside to help you prepare for your IELTS Test.
