Into the wilderness we go!

Missionary Groups

During the month of March, we have several visits from mission groups that came to serve the community and also to challenge the men spiritually.  I had the blessing to help and be part of that, because every time we receive a team that comes down to serve they lift our spirits and encourage us to work harder for the Glory of God.

One of the teams came down help during a health clinic week, were we went around and served the community by providing free medication and health care for over a week. I’m no Doctor so I try to help by translating. The medical work here in Mexico is lead by both Dr. Esly and Dr. Sandy who live and serve the region. People know them, so when we get to do this kind of service people trust both them and the group that works with them during this week.
The second team that I got to be part of was a group of men from Kingsway that came down with their families and led a group of men into the wilderness. We were part of “the 4th Musketeer extreme character challenge.” The challenge was to disconnect from the world and be surrounded by a group of men who ventured together into the unknown to face our giants. People that know me would know that I’m neither a nature man or wilderness explorer kind of guy, but what got me into this was the idea of being alone in the presence of God and pushing myself to the limit. Which I can say it did! My team got lost along the way and somehow ended in front of other teams, our goal was never to be the first but to join with other brothers, so we can push each other together, but as we didn’t see anyone for hours we continued pushing not realizing we were creating a gap between the rest of the groups. But even when we were lost, we bonded and pushed ourselves and encouraged one another as we recognize that this world, and our families, need man to stand up to indifference and pain that surround us.
Car accident

During the medical week there was a small car accident where a semi-truck hit the back of my car. As I was driving to pick up my family, I entered a construction zone, so I merged between two semi-trucks. As everything was slowing down I looked back and noticed that the truck was not slowing down and getting very close to my car and also realized I was running out of room, so I pull to the side but it was too late and was rear-ended by the truck. The damage was all material and with no injuries. Material damage that created extra expenses for us, but we trust that God will provide.

Vision

Having the mission groups here did put a hold on our classes and a few other unexpected things. But we are trying to get back on track in molding the vision that God has set up in the heart of the ministers. They desire that the church goers deepen themselves in the word of God, to grow not only in knowledge but in love and to reach those who are far from God. We have been meeting and are in the process of asking questions to know the needs that surround us and how our church is unique.

Kid's Corner
Taking on the leadership of Sharing Hope has been a challenge. Because we just arrived here, and we have little knowledge of where to buy stuff, it’s been a learning process. We've also been learning how to create a healthy menu for the kids, to make sure they receive food that will mature their body, our goal is not just to fill them up but for them grow healthy.

We also realized that much of the information about the individual children were not up to date. So, our first goal was to update all their information and pictures. It has taken several hours, but we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

We are also working in updating policies so we can gather with the moms and explain what being part of the program means for them and their kids and our promise with them to provide the best for them.

Once we are done with this our next goal is to reevaluated what happens at the classes so we can be more effective in the lives of the kids and transform their minds and hearts for the glory of God.

Pleas continue to pray for the vision that God has set up in our hearts!
