A message from our new Grants & Fundraising Officer, Rob:
NIDAS provide a valuable service to the residents of the Mansfield and Ashfield area by providing individually tailored help to survivors of domestic abuse and their families. As a registered charity we are reliant on grants and donations to be able to continue this work, and, as I am sure you are aware, the COVID pandemic has sadly brought a degree of uncertainty for the future of charity funding.
As the Grants and Fundraising Officer, which is a brand-new role for NIDAS, my role involves raising income through a variety of means, from applications to charitable organisations to working on projects within the community to enable us to carry on providing this service. My intention is to raise awareness for the vital work which NIDAS does, create a platform to generate income and to be the contact to provide guidance to all those who wish to support the charity in any way.
If you have any ideas for fundraising, if you would like to collaborate with us on a project or if you would like to make a donation to support our work, then please contact me, I would love to hear from you and I will be able to support you on your journey.
This month, our Children's Outreach launched a Rockpool Recovery Group, which works with children to help them understand their strengths and identities, improve self-esteem, understand negative automatic thinking and positive affirmations, to help them learn and grow.
We would also like say thank you to Asda Forest Town for their recent contribution of arts and crafts materials for use in outreach support sessions.
Teen Outreach Service
In October, our Teen Outreach Worker organised a live online Q&A session using sli.do for teens and young adults to ask anonymous questions about relationships and domestic abuse. This provided a safe space for young people to get help, support or advice.
Our teen outreach worker also had a meeting with Inspire and Achieve- Building Better Opportunities to discuss how we can work together more effectively.
Our family team coordinator attended workshops delivered by Notts Energy Partnership and Feeding Ashfield around Fuel and Food Poverty and how we can increase support for clients in Mansfield and Ashfield.
One of our Domestic Abuse Outreach Workers, along with the Teen Outreach Worker, went to Asda Forest Town in Mansfield to promote our services and the support we can offer, as well as being available for individuals who needed advice.
Our Family Court IDVA attended Police Crime Commissioner Caroline Henry's virtual #HaveYourSay event for victims of crime, where questions and concerns about policing and victims of crime were raised.
This month, our Family Court IDVA made contact with Gareth Harding, Nottinghamshire's Domestic Abuse Lead. Gareth spoke with the NIDAS team to explore how we can work together to ensure survivors get the vital support they need and that perpetrators are held accountable for their behaviour.

16 DAYS OF ACTION TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
On White Ribbon Day Thursday 25 November, and the 16 days to end violence against women that follow, we are asking people in their communities, organisations, and workplaces, to come together, and say ‘no’ to violence against women. The leading message this year is #AllMenCan which aims to drive conversations about the role men must play in building a safer world for women.
We will be launching our own #MakeThePromise campaign in November where we will be working partnership with local businesses and communities. We are currently working on our fundraising and campaign pack which will be released early next month. Keep an eye on social media so you don't miss it!
