Last month, we unveiled our rebranding and shared with you our vision, which encompasses both what NIDAS is today and what we aspire to achieve in the future. Many exciting improvements are still in the works at NIDAS, including the introduction of our brand new website. Our new website will include a fresh, modern design and will be more user-friendly. Keep an eye out for our launch date; we will be posting updates on our social media platforms.
Behind the scenes, our social media and marketing assistant has been hard at work on our new image, which includes new leaflets and social media templates. Here are some of our most recent social media graphics:
We went on our annual summer trip this month, with Cleethorpes as our destination. Children, teenagers and their families were treated to a free excursion to the seaside as well as the opportunity to visit the jungle zoo, where they made friends with lemurs, meerkats and a cockatoo. We would also like to express our gratitude to Asda and Greggs for providing donations for refreshments and goodies for our families throughout the day.
Teen Outreach Service
This month, together with our children's outreach worker our teen worker attending the Feel Good Families event organised by Ashfield District Council in Hucknall. We had an art and crafts project set up at this event, where children and young people could make their own friendship bracelet.
Our teen worker continued to support young people in the community over the summer holidays at local parks and at Everyone Active's wellbeing centres. Everyone Active also kindly donated a number of complimentary memberships for leisure activities for young people as part of a joint project whereby we are working in conjunction to promote mental health and wellbeing for individuals within our local community.
Family Team
Our Art Psychotherapy project commenced on August 6th 2021, this project enables us to offer therapeutic interventions for clients within our service to compliment the vast range of support already in place.
Ashfield District Council hosted a further Feel Good Families in Sutton in Ashfield which members of our family team attended. The sessions aimed to encourage positive engagement in family activities throughout the school holidays. At the event we were able meet with children and families to promote our service and also build understanding around healthy relationships through craft activities. Despite the fact that it was an extremely windy and stormy day, we had a good time and were blown away by the beautiful bracelets made by children and young people.
Court Team
This month, we welcomed back volunteers to NIDAS. Louise, our Family Court IDVA, has been joined by Grace who has been assisting with administrative and research tasks.
Our Family Court IDVA took part in Rockpool's The ABC of Trauma Practitioner Training. They were able to gain a better understanding of the impact of trauma, such as adverse childhood experiences and trauma-informed practise. They were able to learn about strategies for promoting protective behaviours and building resilience.
Our Family Team Co-ordinator took part in a radio interview with Gem FM to raise awareness about the support available to survivors now that COVID restrictions have been lifted, as well as to promote our upcoming Freedom Programme.
We're excited to be able to reintroduce volunteers to the NIDAS team.
