Hispanic Heritage Month

Through October 15th, Spokane Public Library will host a variety of programs representing the culture of 21 Spanish-speaking countries and highlighting the importance of Hispanic heritage in the United States. Here are a few of the events. Make sure to check out the calendar for a full listing of events.
September 15: Preserving the Legacies of Cesar Chavez and La Causa, South Hill, 3:30 p.m.
September 17: Hispanic Heritage Month: History, Diversity, and Legacies, South Hill, 6:30
September 22: Flamenco Dancing!, Downtown, 3:00 p.m.
September 22: The Afro-Latino Connection in the Costa Chica Region of Mexico, Shadle, 3:30 p.m.
Spokane Public Library Wins a 2018 Top Innovator Award from the Urban Library Council
Urban Libraries Council named Spokane Public Library a 2018 Top Innovator in the category of Customer Experience for Lilac City Live. We were one of 10 libraries selected from more than 200 nominees. Other winners include Brooklyn Public Library, Sand Diego Public Library and Washington DC -- so we're in great company! Join us for the next Lilac City Live on September 20 at 7pm.

A student from EWU’s Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity will be reading Spanish-English language storybooks during this special preschool storytime celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month.

Chess Club, Every Thursday at 4 p.m., South Hill. Beginners welcome and a chess instructor will be onsite.
