The October Update is dedicated to our annual medical banquet on Friday, October 19 at Sacred Heart School. The reception begins at 6:30, followed by dinner and a short program. The banquet is free of charge to anyone who wants to join us for a casual evening of fun and good food prepared by the ladies of the Hispanic guild at Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Proceeds from the banquet make up the largest portion of our annual Haiti Outreach budget. Every dollar of the funds raised are dedicated to supporting our medical mission that employs a doctor and nurse and provides medicines at our remote clinic in the little village of Bouly. Funds raised at the banquet also are used to support two schools in the town of Boucan Carre as well as our sister parish, St. Michel.
As part of our medical outreach, a team will go to Haiti in late November to install solar panels on the roof of our remote clinic in the village of Bouly. The ability to provide a source of constant power will make it possible to store vaccines at the clinic. The vaccines, in turn, will make it possible to inoculate hundreds of children from diseases such as typhoid and malaria that have ravaged the region for more than two centuries.
We hope that you will be able to join us on October 19. Each year we have a great combination of persons who have attended the banquet for years with others who come for the first time. All enjoy an evening of fun and inspiration.
It is now possible to donate online to the Haiti Outreach program. If you cannot attend the banquet but would like to make a donation, please go to our website at http://haitioutreachprogram.com and click on the Donate link.
