Mark Finchem’s Legislative Journal

MARCH 15, 2019The political grandstanding goes on. The RESIST movement now feels it has the right to protest instead of govern.  Don’t be surprised if we have a long session this year.  Our Democrat colleagues insist on hijacking the normal order of business of the House, slowing down the process of legislation that provides relief for taxpayers.
- Rep. Mark Finchem, Chairman of the House Federal Relations Committee.
This is an example of the attitudes and socialist mind sets we are fighting in the Arizona House of Representatives. This individual could not support a demand to the federal government that it pay for education and infrastructure with the money that is derived out of the use of lands in the State of Arizona by the federal government. This is what I have been fighting for.   I want to secure long-term, sustainable K-12 education funding. So who really stands for funding education?

The Arizona economy has continued to out-perform driving economic growth, reduced unemployment and near record surplus tax revenue. This Battle of the Bulge I describe is what to do with the surplus. This is the time when we should reflect on how our sound policies have been rewarded, and continue them. It is time to pay down debt. I have advocated, and will continue to advocate for, repairing roads, paying down debt and restoring pay parity for our law enforcement personnel who have not received an increase in pay for over 10-years.

One of the components in the proposed budget is a $20MM one time expenditure to install wells to draw water that has been banked for use by the agriculture community. It is likely that these funds will be reimbursed with Federal taxpayer money and returned to the State General Fund. It takes time to drill wells and this is a part of protecting southern Arizona’s acres to reliable water supply.
The annual Freedom Expo is an impactful 2 Day event for the whole family, and it helps benefit the great cause of Liberty.” explains Jeff Utsch, Founder and Executive Director of Heirs of the Republic. “It is a tremendous privilege to have Chad Prather as the Keynote Speaker for this year’s dinner awards event."

If you are interested in entering the world of politics, we need you!  In Arizona, a precinct committeeman is the most important elected official to our Republican Party – the dedicated men and women who hold this position constitute the foundation of our party in all fifteen counties. A precinct committeeman is a party worker at the grassroots level. Precinct committeemen are elected by voters in their precinct at the time of the Primary election, during general election years. If there is not an elected committeeman, the county chairman can appoint a committeeman to fill a vacancy. Whether you live in Legislative District 11 or in another "LD" you and your talents are needed.   For more information about what it means to be a PC click here.  Click the button below to learn more about where meetings are held, what PC's do and how you can join the team.
