Mark Finchem’s Legislative Journal
December 20, 2019- As 2019 comes to a close, I pause to reflect on the year that has come and gone; we got a lot done! We passed the Drought Contingency Plan, increased our Emergency Contingency Fund to $1 Billion, for the 5th year in a row, added more funding for k-12 education and have more wrench ready jobs available than people to fill them. With Arizona's economy ranked 11th best in the nation, it's clear we are open for business!
2020 priorities include: addressing deferred maintenance of roads and bridges, increased educational spending to the constitutional limit and protecting our tax base. We also will be addressing environmental issues, including what to do with solar panels that have been decommissioned. Solar panels contain toxic materials including cobalt, lithium and cadmium. If left buried in our landfills, these chemicals would find their way into our water table and pollute it. We cannot accept this.
Merry Christmas to you and yours! "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” Luke 2:14
I look forward to being back in session on Jan 13, 2020! We will continue to grow our economy, brings jobs and keep taxes low.
Look for a survey in your inbox in the next few weeks. I want to hear from you about what's important for us to address!
