Please read this email carefully (I promise to keep it short!) and share the information with other riders.
We've been forced to change courses for tomorrow evening's (Tuesday 8 Nov) Summer Series Race due to road works in the 500 metres past and leading up to the dairy on Puniu Rd. Unfortunately, the road works that were completed earlier in the year did not cope well with the heat last week and the road has broken up with lots of potholes / rough patches. Contractors have been busy in the past few days filling holes / applying hot mix etc but will continue to work on this tomorrow. After discussions with Council, we can't guarantee that 1) the work will be completed in time for racing and 2) how much loose gravel will remain on the road, therefore making it potentially unsafe for our riders.
We've made the decision (and have been granted Council Traffic Management approval) to use the Puahue Circuit (one lap - 16km for U15s and two laps - 32km for all graded riders). Registration will be based at Puahue School from 5.30 - 6.20 pm with U15s starting at the usual time of 6 pm and Grades from 6.30pm. There is plenty of parking in the two carparks just past the school and we'd ask that you don't park on the roadside as we need to keep this clear for riders, officials, and visibility.
We're hopeful that we'll be back on our usual course in Week 6 (fingers crossed) but will keep you posted. Please note that the Cambridge Bunch will leave the Cycleway at the slightly later time of 5.20 pm.
I'm sure you'll appreciate our efforts to keep racing going - See you tomorrow at Puahue!
