John Pulman Memorial Handicap Race

Tips for Riding a Handicap Race

Hi Everyone,

This Sunday, 3rd of July, we are based at Puahue School for the second of our three handicap races in the series.   Riders will be handicapped and although you may not be riding with everyone from your usual grade, you will still earn Winter Series points.  This doubles as the John Pulman Handicap Race with the winner taking home the prestigious shield and prizemoney awarded for 1st - 10th in the Grades and 1st to 3rd for the Under 15's.

We will use the Puahue / Parklands / Chamberlain Rd Circuit with three laps for all grades, although E Graders can complete two laps and still receive Winter Series points.  Under 15's race over one lap of the circuit.

Registration is from 9.30 – 10.15 am with Under 15’s starting at 10 am and limit riders at 10.30 am.

Our 2022 Winter Series start sheets have been forwarded to our Club Handicappers (Blair Taylor and Alex Heaney) and they'll sort riders into groups based on current form and previous results.

Registration and number pick up will close at 10.15 am Sunday so handicaps can be finalised.

The last handicap race at Puahue was very exciting!  I've  attached “Tips for Riding a Handicap Bike Race” for your information - especially important for those new to this type of racing.

Regards
Melinda
