SIGN THESE 1-CLICK PETITIONS

1) Demand that the New York legislature stays in session to do the People’s work.  CLICK HERE!

2) Save our restaurants! The majority of restaurants are unable to survive the pandemic’s impact on sales, putting 11 million workers and a $1 trillion industry at risk.  The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) is the $349 billion pot set aside for loans to help small businesses stay afloat and not lay off employees, but it has just run out of money. Congress is arguing over how to replenish the pot.  CLICK HERE!

CALLS TO SAVE THE U.S. POST OFFICE

Our postal service has experienced a dramatic drop in the volume of mail, thanks in large part to business closures.  Because the GOP has previously passed legislation to cripple our post office in order to encourage privatization, the postal service faces far different budgetary constraints than any other federal agency.

Call your members of Congress using the script below:
  1. Senator Schumer: (202) 224-6542
  2. Senator Gillibrand: (202) 224-4451
  3. Representative Nadler: (202) 225-5635
"Hello, my name is _____, and I’m a constituent from zip code _____.  I’m calling because our US Postal service is on the verge of collapse.  We need Congress to act quickly to shore up its funding so that everyone can continue to receive essential medicines and supplies.  In addition, we need as many Americans as possible to vote from home so that they don’t have to choose between their lives and their right to vote.  In the next stimulus bill, produce a package that includes adequate election protection measures and direct postal service funding.  Thank you for listening."

Share on social media: Help fund our financially-crippled US Post Office by buying stamps and supplies and mailing letters! https://store.usps.com/store/home #SaveThePostOffice #SaveTheUSPS

Little known fact: The U.S. Postal Service is the only federal agency mentioned in the Constitution after the President, Congress, and the Courts.

CALL TO SAVE OUR DEMOCRACY

Fully fund our Elections by calling Senator Schumer at (202) 223-6542 using the script below:

"Hello, my name is _____, and I’m a constituent from zip code _____.  I’m calling because the next coronavirus stimulus package must fully fund our elections, expand early voting, and provide vote-by-mail reforms.  Please allocate $4 billion for this purpose with no strings attached.  Thank you for listening.”

VICTORY! WISCONSIN STATE SUPREME COURT ELECTION

What happened last week in Wisconsin should terrify Trump and the GOP.  The blowout 11-point Democratic victory is nothing but good news.

Progressive Dane County Circuit Court Judge Jill Karofsky unseated and won a 10-year term over the Scott-Walker-appointed Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Dan Kelly.  This was a key race that will narrow the court’s conservative majority in this crucial swing state.

The recent election went ahead amidst the coronavirus pandemic despite a last-minute order from the state’s governor, Democrat Tony Evers, seeking to postpone it.  Evers’ order, however, was overturned by the conservative state Supreme Court, forcing Wisconsinites to choose between exercising their right to vote and protecting their health.  An extreme shortage of poll workers led to excessively long lines.  In Milwaukee–which has the largest democratic voting block–the polling locations were reduced from 180 to 5 locations.

The outcome is also a black eye for Donald Trump who repeatedly touted his support for Kelly.  Trump is counting on a victory in Wisconsin (which he carried in 2016 by a margin < 0.8%) in order to win a second term.

Trump won Wisconsin by 23,000 votes and Judge Jill Karofsky won with over 130,000 votes.  Let that sink in!  This is exactly why we must keep turning our purple states blue!
