Partnerships for Sustainability

4 of our LIFT: Learning Innovation for Tomorrow projects this year actively involved university students with community partners on sustainability.

Criminology students tested theories of crime whilst taking action to clear up the streets of St Pauls’ in Cheltenham, and members of St Paul’s Residents Association joined Sociology students to scope out options for a community festival.

Our Events Management students developed a pop-up event on the UN Global Goals at the Jazz Festival while our History students analysed sustainability issues in their research for the Cotswold Centre for History and Heritage.

RCE Severn is part of a global network of RCEs endorsed by the United Nations University. The RCEs were instrumental in the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD, 2005-2014), translating its global objectives into the context of their local communities. The RCEs now support implementation of the Global Action Programme (GAP) on ESD which followed the DESD.
