Ahead of COP 26 later this month, we're pleased to release our strategy to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2030.
Our plan builds on success in our previous carbon strategy (2010-2020) which exceed targets and achieved a 47% drop in carbon emissions by 2019 against a target of 40% by 2020.
The new strategy covers all 3 scopes of emissions and includes the replacement of gas boilers with electric heating, improved building controls to reduce gas and electricity use, new solar PV capacity and completion of LED lighting installation across the estate.
Supporting work in the wider region, we'll also be moving staff and students towards lower-carbon travel, and working with suppliers and contractors to find more carbon-efficient and lower-carbon products including in the design and construction of our new City Campus in Gloucester.
We continue to enhance learning for sustainability with partners across the RCE Severn region with curriculum projects and research into carbon reduction solutions and climate change adaptation.
