Revelation 1:9-11 (NIV®) I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus,
Ready, Willing, Available
Revelation 1:9-11 (NIV®) I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. On the Lord’s Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, which said: “Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches.”
John is an old man who has been punished for his faith by the Roman emperor. Decades have passed since Jesus called him to leave his fishing nets and follow Him into a life of ministry. John is alone; all his peer group have died martyrs’ deaths. He had accomplished and overcome much, and now he’s a prisoner. So, what is John doing in exile? He’s spending time with His Lord and spiritually available to be used again. The result of that is Jesus’ revelation of the end of days. Don’t ever think that, because of time or circumstances, you should sit down and rest on your past ministry efforts. Be ready. Be willing. Be available to serve the Lord.
THINK ABOUT IT
It is liberating to know “it is God who works in us to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose” (Philippians 2:13).
Heavenly Father, thank You that, no matter my circumstances, the assignment You have given me does not change or diminish. I declare today that I am ready, willing, and available to You for all Your good purposes. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
