A Faithful God
Exodus 6:6-8 (NIV®)
“Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the LORD.’”
The focus of this passage is God’s declaration, “I will!” God says “I will” seven times in these verses, assuring His people that He will deliver them, protect them, and provide for them. What about you? Has He delivered you? He has! Has He protected you? He has! Has He provided for you? He has! God’s promises to the Israelites are just as relevant to us today. We all have times when we wonder whether or not God will be faithful—whether or not we can really trust Him. But know this: God still delights in showing His faithfulness to His people.
THINK ABOUT IT
Many times, a lack of faithfulness shows up most frequently on our part, not God’s. Yet Scripture declares that even when we are unfaithful, He is faithful (2 Timothy 2:13). What a merciful God we serve!
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness and great mercy. Thank You for Your willingness to call me out of darkness, wash away my sin, and make me righteous before You. I choose to yield myself as an instrument of righteousness for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.
