Be Willing To Identify

Psalm 119:45-46 (NIV®)
I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts. I will speak of your statutes before kings and will not be put to shame.

I hope you will cultivate the habit of being seen with your Bible in public—and I don’t mean at church. It is important for your friends, coworkers, classmates, and others to be able to identify you as a person who places value in God’s Word. It is easy to be an undercover Christian, relegating your life of faith and your interest in God’s Word to the privacy of your home and the safety of your church and its activities. It should be known by all that Scripture is going to influence your social life, your moral choices, and how you do business. The willingness to identify with your Bible in public is a really powerful thing. I’ve heard amazing stories of coworkers asking for prayer and casual acquaintances asking about Jesus, all from a Bible on your desk or in your hand. Don’t be a closet Christian. Be seen with your Bible. You will make a statement about your beliefs and your priorities before you ever say a word.

Even in the presence of pushback, God will never allow you to be put to shame when you are honoring Him before others.

Heavenly Father, if I am veiling my relationship with You, Your Kingdom, Your Power, or Your Word, help me to repent and begin to openly identify with You. Thank You for the opportunities to share You with others that will follow. In Jesus’ name, amen.
