SOUTH PARK TWP, PA – The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office announces the apprehension of Alphonso Griffin, 29 years of age from South Park Twp. Griffin has been wanted since January 2020 on three warrants, one arrest and two criminal bench due to violation of probation/parole.
The bench warrants stem back to a guilty plea of an April 2017 armed robbery, where Griffin and an accomplice robbed the Honeymoon Restaurant in South Park. Griffin pled guilty to conspiracy - robbery - threat immediate serious injury (2).
Griffin is alleged to be one of three men having been involved in a home invasion in Dormont on December 22, 2019. During the robbery, one of the accomplices had been shot by the homeowner.
However, Griffin was charged with aggravated assault (2), burglary, criminal conspiracy, and simple assault. Due to this arrest warrant, the courts issued a violation of probation/parole on earlier guilty pleas for unrelated robberies.
This morning around 8:15 AM, Sheriff’s Deputies headed to the 2900 block of Highland Ave in South Park Twp. Deputies developed information that Griffin was seen at the residence recently. Deputies gave commands to tenants in the house and could see a male peek out of a window on the second floor, who Deputies believed to be Griffin. After nearly ten minutes, Deputies entered the home, accompanied by a K9 Deputy and Griffin peacefully surrendered. He was taken into custody without incident and lodged at the Allegheny County Jail on the two criminal bench warrants. He will await arraignment on the arrest warrant from the incident in Dormont.
