CLAIRTON, PA – The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office announces the apprehension of D’el Mackey, 38 years of age from North Versailles. Mackey had been wanted since November 2019, as the suspect in the robbery of Huntington Bank in North Versailles.
On November 13, 2019, around 11:15 AM, authorities were dispatched to the Huntington Bank in the Great Valley Shopping Center near Walmart for a bank robbery that had just occurred. The man was identified as a black male in his mid 30’s wearing a yellow rain jacket, black hat, white gloves, black pants while carrying a backpack. The man had passed a note to the teller asking for funds, which they obliged, and the man fled the scene.
After a brief investigation, authorities believed Mackey to be the robber, due to surveillance tape and a thorough investigation. An arrest warrant was issued for Mackey less than seven hours after the incident.
Sheriff’s Deputies took on the case this morning and began uncovering information that Mackey was staying in the Clairton-area of the County. Mackey’s female companion lived in the 500 block of Third Street, which is where Deputies began. After surrounding the home and announcing themselves, Mackey responded after a short time and complied with their orders. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the FBI Headquarters in the South Side to be interviewed.
Mackey was arrested on the arrest warrant from New Kensington, as well as a federal warrant; both originating from the November bank robbery.
