ALLEGED RAPIST ARRESTED ON BOND VIOLATION WHILE PENDING TRIAL

PITTSBURGH, PA – The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office announces the apprehension of Charles Lantzy, 48 years of age from Baldwin Borough.  Lantzy was wanted on a bench warrant for violation of bond conditions regarding an April 2019 incident where he is suspected of sexually assaulting a minor.

On April 14, 2019, a female juvenile was babysitting Lantzy’s child. When he arrived home, he allegedly made several advances toward the female. When she denied these advances, he is accused of forcing himself on her and sexually assaulting the 16-year-old female.  He was arrested and charged with rape forcible compulsion, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault without consent, indecent assault without consent of others, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, and intimidation witness/victim. As Lantzy awaits trial, he was placed on pre-trial house arrest, requiring him to the confines of his home. However, Lantzy lived nearby the victim’s grandmother’s residence and he would come outside to stare at the victim when she would visit her grandmother. In turn, violating the terms of his bond conditions. A warrant was issued for his arrest this afternoon.

Due to a work-release window, sheriff’s deputies attempted to locate Lantzy at both his home and his workplace, a used car lot in the southern neighborhoods of the City of Pittsburgh. He was at neither location. Deputies investigation lead to Robinson Towne Center where they located Lantzy’s vehicle parked. Soon thereafter, deputies viewed him walking to his car where he was apprehended without incident around 3:45 PM, less than three hours after the issuance of the warrant. Lantzy was transported and lodged at the Allegheny County Jail.

Since 1991, Lantzy has been arrested over sixty times in Allegheny County.
