Next week marks the 2 year anniversary for PEAKURBAN. We're immensely proud of the team we’ve built and the relationships we’ve formed with our clients over this time. We couldn’t exist without our clients and on behalf of our team I would like to say thank you for all of your support, trust and confidence offered to us over the past 2 years.
I’d also like to acknowledge the PEAKURBAN team. Each day, every one of our 25 strong team turns up ready to work hard and do great work for our clients.
In this newsletter we introduce two new PEAKURBAN team members, Tim Connolly (Director - Planning) and Nathan Wilson (Principal Planner).  We also reflect on the 2 years just gone as well as share some thoughts on managing cost and value in a slower market.

PEAKURBAN Planning and Survey

We are delighted to welcome Tim Connolly (Director - Planning) and Nathan Wilson (Principal Planner) to the PEAKURBAN Planning and Survey team.
Tim has over 30 years' experience in statutory and strategic planning and has worked on many large and complex projects including Warner Lakes, Riverbank, Riverparks, Park Vista, Capestone, Brentwood, The Meadows and Ridgeview. Nathan has over 15 years' experience in statutory planning and actively worked on many of the aforementioned projects as well as various residential and commercial applications throughout Queensland.
Brent Thomas, Managing Director of PEAKURBAN said, ‘We are very pleased to have Tim and Nathan join our team. They are highly experienced planners and have strong, credible relationships with many Councils across SEQ.  Given the complexity of projects these days, being able to offer an integrated planning, survey and engineering solution means projects can be delivered faster, more efficiently and with greater value and transparency for our clients’.
Tim and Nathan have recently prepared and managed the Pine Valley Variation Application for Lendlease and secured planning approval for the first 161 lots for Satterley's Ridgeview project at Narangba.
Ridgeview, Narangba

Construction will start this month on Ridgeview, Satterley's newest 600 lot residential development project at Narangba.This was PEAKURBAN’s first planning application and thanks to Moreton Bay Regional Council’s detailed prelodgement process, we received the DA approval within 24 hours of formal lodgement.  We then submitted the Operational Works applications under the MB+ scheme and received these approvals within 2 days.  Satterley were very pleased with the outcome and Andrew Koek, Satterley’s Development Manager on the project, said “Having PEAKURBAN on board and being able to take advantage of their relationships and accreditations with the Authorities has meant that we are able to start construction well ahead of schedule. In a world where time is money, this provides an enormous advantage."
PEAKURBAN were able to fast track approvals by collaborating with the Authorities and taking advantage of the Moreton Bay Regional Council MB+ and Unitywater A&C application schemes. These are both self-certification systems which relied on PEAKURBAN preparing and certifying design drawings and for Unitywater, preparing the approval packages. These initiatives have proven to be very effective in streamlining approvals and getting land to market faster.

Managing Costs and Value in a Slower Market
by Andrew Ngo

There’s a lot of media articles about slower sales and a tighter credit market across the country, especially in Sydney and Melbourne. Having been through a couple of ‘challenging’ times previously, this inevitably affects market confidence with developers attentions more sharply focused on finding cost reductions and optimising value out of projects.
At PEAKURBAN, we’re big advocates of ensuring projects are delivered as efficiently as possible and at the lowest construction cost regardless of the market cycle. Whilst not rocket science, we’ve found that with some creative thinking and a focus on key areas, significant cost savings or value add can be realised. Click here to find out how.

2 Years On.....

It's hard to believe that it’s been 2 years since we opened the doors at PEAKURBAN.
You never really know how things will turn out but the journey thus far has been both exciting and fulfilling. We started PEAKURBAN believing that the old way of doing business (at least in engineering circles) was fast disappearing – those days where you could do a deal on a handshake, where you trusted people to do what they promised to do, where senior engineers were still actively engaged doing the project work - reviewing designs and negotiating better and faster approvals for their clients. Since start up we've been striving to create a company where our clients are front and centre of everything we do and where trust, responsiveness and exceptional service underpins the way we work.
A quick snapshot of what PEAKURBAN looks like 2 years on:
  • A team of 25 people across 2 offices (Brisbane and Sunshine Coast);
  • Undertaken due diligence for 102 projects totalling circa 14,200 lots;
  • Undertaking planning, design or construction for active projects with circa 13,500 lots; and
  • Full coverage across SEQ with projects in Brisbane, Logan, Moreton Bay, Ipswich, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast LGA’s.
We are very grateful for the support of our clients and industry colleagues and we look forward to developing stronger relationships for many more years to come.
