June 2018 Newsletter

Dear Friends,
First of all, I want to welcome all of my newest subscribers. Thank you for signing up to receive this monthly newsletter during my Solo Show at the Faulkner Gallery. I am honored that you came to my show, that you want to stay in touch, and that you have joined my wonderful newsletter family.

May was such a special month, particularly because of the Solo Show. Did you have a good May, too?

In this newsletter, I will be sharing some additional news about the Solo Show, letting you know about my June showings, sharing some new art with you, describing my art donations, and, as always, closing with my quote of the month.

Reflections and New Shows

It was such an honor to have my solo show, Reflections, at the Faulkner Gallery West during the entire month of May. Hundreds of people came to the Opening and many of my paintings were acquired. Here is a review of my show that was printed in Santa Barbara Seasons: http://sbseasons.com/2018/05/reflections-a-solo-show-by-andrew-roy/. A big thanks to everyone who came to see my show. I also want to express my deepest appreciation to those who purchased paintings from the show, as well as to Jan and Mark Ziegler, Alli Condra, my parents, and The Faulkner.

June is also going to be a busy month. Two of my paintings were juror selected to be displayed until mid-August at 1919 State Street, Can't Do Without and Reflect. They are on the 3rd floor of the building.

Also, for the Abstract Art Collective's ArtSEE Show at the JCC, I have 3 paintings that were juror selected, Serenity , Openings (shown below), and Always There. In addition, I have donated two 10" x 10" panels for the show, the proceeds of which go to SEE International -- a wonderful organization. Sales of the panels (all of which are only $100 and go fast) and the other art begin at the reception on Sunday June 10 at the JCC (524 Chapala Street). The reception lasts from 2 - 4:00; and the show closes on August 7. Hope to see you at the reception!

New Art, Brief Updates, and Quote

In these newsletters, I am always very happy to share examples of my new art with you. Unfortunately -- and I am sure many of you have experienced this -- I injured my back and so I have not been able to create as much art as usual. Pain can enhance understanding and insights, but it can also be very challenging. One piece I would like to share with you is Before Time (shown above). Other pieces can be seen on my website.

Speaking of sharing, I have just started working with Melissa Pierson, who has been coordinating a major effort to assist victims of the Santa Barbara County and Ventura County fires and floods with furniture, other items and art. I am donating art to this effort and will tell you more about it in my next newsletter.
