New Work
As you can see from the two paintings above, I have really been celebrating and embracing color lately. All along the Central Coast of California, the flowers are blooming in profusion. Every day I take a long walk in Santa Barbara and admire the beautiful and vibrant gardens, as well as the vibrant hillsides. My large acrylic, Bird of Paradise, reflects this.
In Alaska and elsewhere, I have been in the middle of vast fields of yellow, purple and white wildflowers. Everything about these moments -- the sights, the smells, and the sounds -- underscore the splendor of life. When I painted Rebel, I was feeling especially experimental with colors and techniques, and wanted to push boundaries. A friend recommended the title. What do you think?
