March 2019 Newsletter

Spring is definitely in the air here. We have had an above average amount of rain, and everything is verdantly green. California poppies are beginning to bloom, as well as other vibrantly colored wildflowers like lupines and mustard. Growing up in Alaska, March was full of brilliant white snow and deep blue skies. Where ever you are, I hope you are having a beautiful month.

February was exciting, especially my solo show at Elsie's and the creation of some new paintings celebrating emerging life. Looking forward, I am honored to have my art selected for a great show starting on Thursday.

Gratitude for Solo Show and More

Later today I am taking down my month-long solo show at Elsie's -- A Vision From Beyond. Featuring over 20 paintings, the show launched on February 7th with a great First Thursday reception. I want to thank everyone who came to the show. I am especially honored to have sold five paintings to remarkable individuals and art collectors, including, as shown above, Sally Warner-Arnett (who purchased Serenity and is holding one of the signed and numbered Art Posters for the show) and Carol Green (who purchased Embracing).

Here is an article about the show that was published by the Santa Barbara Seasons Magazine: I could not have done all of this without the help of Bouloor at Elsie's; my mother, father and step-father; Nancy Wallace; and Alli at the Frame-Up. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this show -- it meant a lot.

Within Spring

New Show, New Art and Quote of the Month.

I am excited to have three paintings selected for the 2019 Solstice Festival Art Show. The theme of this year's Solstice Parade is: WONDER! All of the selected art will be on display beginning this Thursday (March 7) between 5:30 and 7:30 pm at Distinctive Art and Framing (1333 State Street). The public will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite work. One of my pieces, Dreamscape, is shown above. I hope to see you there!

Last month, as rain nurtured growth here, I created the painting Within Spring. It represents the intersections of water, roots, soil, growth, and hope. What do you think about it? I have also just started experimenting with metallic acrylics, and look forward to sharing some pieces with you in my next newsletter.

Now for my quote of the month, which is by Williams Butler Yeats and is about growth: "Happiness is neither virtue nor pleasure nor this thing nor that but simply growth. We are happy when we are growing." Thank you for reading my newsletter and for supporting original contemporary abstract art. I appreciate growing with you in art and life.
As always, I look forward to hearing from you.

Warm Regards,
