October 2019

Happy October, everyone! We hope your fall is going well.

We are pleased to report that we will be revealing a fresh new look for our website very soon. The new header at the top of this newsletter is a small sneak peek.
A special addition to our library:

Peter and Barbara Norman of Salem have very generously donated this Parvo motion picture camera, from 1915, to our library. This 35 mm, hand crank camera was made in France, and is one of the first metal cameras made (previous cameras having been made of wood). This lovely addition to our library now resides in our Reading Room for all to see.
Coming in early November!
Other news you can use:

Library grounds are now tobacco-free:

According to NY state law, starting June 19, smoking inside of or within one hundred feet of the entrances, exits or outdoor areas of any public or association library is not allowed. At Bancroft Public Library, we have adopted a tobacco-free policy, and you will see signs posted around the building. Additionally, we have information and support resources for quitting smoking available in the library. The signs and information have been provided by the Living Tobacco-Free Initiative, a grant funded program through Glens Falls Hospital, which coordinates with organizations in the region to reduce tobacco exposure.

  • Book Club meets the first Tuesday of every month at 2 PM (see flyer below).
  • Scrabble Club meets every Wednesday from 10 AM until noon.
