An update on the current status of the library

Bancroft Public Library is open for Curbside Pickup!

Holds must be placed in advance - online, via email to or by calling 518-854-7463.  When your materials are available, the library will contact you to arrange for pickup.  

Pickup hours are:
  • Monday 1 - 3 pm
  • Tuesday 4 - 6 pm
  • Wednesday 10 am - Noon
  • Thursday 4 - 6 pm
  • Friday 1 - 3 pm
  • Saturday 10 am - Noon
When you arrive at the library, you may call the library from your car, ring the bell on the door, or if you let us know ahead of time, we can place the materials on top of the book drop for you to pick up.  

All materials being returned should be placed in the outdoor book drop.

We have removed the passcode from our public Wi-Fi, and it can be accessed from outside the building.

Please note that this is a working document and may be altered as the situation evolves.
The library is receiving and cataloging a lot of new materials.  You can always find the latest additions on our website.  It's almost as good as standing in front of the New Books shelf!

Summer Reading Options

OverDrive/Libby app--your source for digital materials (e-books and e-audio books) through our library system. 

Our library system now offers TumbleBooks! TumbleBooks are easy to use, and feature unlimited access from home! You can read as many books as you want, when you want, and on any device. There are no check-outs, holds, or bulky downloads. Books are available instantly.

Online Summer Reading Challenge, at Bancroft Library:
Never Stop Growing!

We are excited to announce the launch of READsquared to encourage and record the reading activities of readers of all ages online!  You can register for our Summer Reading challenge through our READsquared website. Your entire family can register and keep track of the materials you read yourself, listen to, or read together. “Reading” books through the use of online story times? Count those too! Log titles or minutes read, write reviews of the books you read, and complete activities to earn virtual badges. Plus, at any time you can get a printout of the titles read to share with your teachers.  The challenge runs through September 2020.

Library Board Meetings

The next regular monthly meeting of the Bancroft Public Library Board of Trustees is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 6:30 PM.

NOTE: The board is planning a series of special meetings throughout the month of June (6/9, 6/16, 6/23, and 6/30) on Tuesday evenings at 6:30, to discuss reopening issues. If there is no need for a meeting in any given week, it will be cancelled.

These meetings will be held in Proudfit Hall following social distancing guidelines, and we can allow a maximum of only 10 people to be present. Members of the public should please email if they are planning to attend, so that we can be prepared. If you have an issue you would like addressed at the meeting, but are not able to attend, please email any board member.
