Grants Awarded to Our Library

In the past month, we have learned that our library has been awarded two grants from our library system (Southern Adirondack Library System--SALS) for which we had applied. One of these grants, the Library Services Seed Challenge Grant was awarded to us to start a weekly program for the senior citizens/retirees in our community. The other grant, the SALS Construction Challenge Grant, has been awarded for us to update the lighting in the library to more energy-efficient LED lighting.

Work has already begun on implementing the projects indicated in these grant proposals. Library Director Susan Getty and staff member Karen Hickland are working together with members of the community and the Washington County Office for the Aging to plan and begin the weekly programs for seniors. Stay tuned for more details!

The Board of Trustees is currently accepting bids for the work to be done on the lighting. Please go to this link on our webpage -> to see the legal notice and access the project specifications.

New Items @ the Library

You may know where to find the newest items when you're in the library, but you can also see a listing of new items by visiting the "What's New" page on our website. Below you'll see a screenshot of a portion of this page:

This very handy feature on our website allows you to see the newest items in the categories of new adult books, new YA books, new children's books, new DVDs/Blu-rays, and any new audio books that we have. The individual carousels can be scrolled through, and there are links to each item in our online catalog. From there, you can see if the item is in at our library, and you can place a request for it if you'd like. If ever you're looking for an item that you don't see, please contact us and ask. We'll do our best to get it for you.

Mark Your Calendars!
PLEASE contact the library if you are planning to attend the Financial Education Seminar on 2/20. We need to have a minimum number of people signed up, or the program will not be held. You can call the library at 518.854.7463, email, or stop in to reserve your seat. Thank you!
