Tools to Help You Lead
October 2021

Dear Regnum Christi Leaders,

Fall is my favorite time of year. Brisk mornings, warm afternoons, gorgeous colors and lots of amazing opportunities to experience RC!  Planning for our online conference, Live the Mystery of the Kingdom Part 2, is well under way for the weekend of November 12-13. Please keep all the participants in your prayers that through this experience they may deepen in their own understanding of the mystery of Christ’s Kingdom within themselves and others.

Live the Mystery is part of a world-wide RC identity project to deepen in our understanding of the gift of our charism shared by four vocations, how we articulate it, and how we share it with the world around us.

November is vocation awareness month. Check out all the ways to promote a vocation awareness in your communities for all vocation inside this edition.

The Section Director orientation kicked off in October and will conclude this November. From this point forward every new section director will have an individualized orientation for their role. Orientation for new ECYD Section Directors is well underway and will continue to accompany and form all newly appointed directors.

Did you know ECYD is celebrating its 50 birthday this year? There is a movement around the world to celebrate this. This EQUIP is full of great resources and tools to help you do this.

The Solemnity of Christ the King is Regnum Christi’s Feast Day!  A new reflection on friendship with Christ, along with a novena will be ready soon to help you celebrate this feast in your communities. You can also check out “Encountering our King” a new book of mediations on Christ the King by Teresa Williams CRC.

The celebration of Thanksgiving is a great a time to lift all those we love and serve up to the Lord in gratitude for their lives. Thank you all for your amazing leadership and your love of Regnum Christi.

May our Lord bless you and keep you. May His face shine upon you and may he hold you close to His Sacred Heart.

Yours in the Heart of Jesus,

Retreat Guide for Christ the King

Every Sunday when we pray the Creed at Mass we profess our faith in Jesus Christ, affirming that “he will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his Kingdom will have no end.”

This seems like an important point for Christ’s followers to keep in mind. And yet, how often do we actually think about it? How deeply have we considered it? What really comes into our minds when we read the Bible passages that speak to us about Christ’s Kingship and his Kingdom? Watch, Listen, or Read The Kingdom without End to encounter these mysteries more fully.

International Missions Are Back!

Mission Youth Missions are very happy to announce that international missions are back! We now have five open and safe options for missionaries to choose from. You can find out more information about each of these sites here

Here's a summary of each one! We hope to continue to explore mimissionary sites.

Ivory Coast, Africa: a French-speaking country that is very safe, peaceful, and mostly Christian. They also have a small community of Regnum Christi members that would love to receive missionaries to help them evangelize their culture! Missionaries will adopt an African village for a week, spending time with the families, offering catechesis to the children, prayer & have Mass together, as well as help with simple humanitarian needs such as home repair or 1st Aid instruction. There will also be time to explore some of the beautiful sites: the zoo, botanical garden, boat ride on the lagoon, and see the largest dome in the world at their National Catholic Basilica.

Santa Cruz Naranjo, Guatemala: a Spanish-speaking country that is very safe, peaceful, and mostly Christian. Missionaries will be partnering with the local Regnum Christi members and local missionaries to evangelize small communities and help them with simple projects. Activities include door-to-door evangelization and visits with families, helping to rebuild the local chapel, and support in catechesis for the children.

Manizales, Colombia:  a Spanish-speaking country with a beautiful local culture.  Missionaries will be partnering with the local Regnum Christi members and local missionaries to support a local foundation for the homeless as well as evangelize small communities and help them with simple projects. Activities include work with the homeless foundation, door-to-door evangelization, and visits with families.

St. Croix: part of the US Virgin Islands, and mostly English speaking country that has great diversity. Missionaries will be partnering with a local missionary organization to encounter and serve those most in need on the island: poor, homeless, disabled as well as help to organize evangelization activities for children. Activities include serving meals, running a day camp, visiting the homeless or the homebound.

Quintana Roo, Mexico: a Spanish and Mayan-speaking area of Mexico that is more rural and poor. Missionaries will be partnering with a local missionary organization to encounter and serve those in need with evangelization and humanitarian projects. Activities include construction, activities with children as well as sharing meals, prayer, and mass times.

Save the Date for the ECYD National Conventions

The ECYD/RC high school national conventions will be July 23-30, 2022.  Mark your calendars and work as a locality to get one or two of your high school kids to participate in this formative experience.  The themes are as follows:  Boys High School—Why We Fight and Girls High School—Born for This.

There will be a boys’ middle school national ECYD Convention over President’s Day Weekend, Feb. 18-21, 2022 and will be a sports tournament. Click this link for more information

ECYD 50th Anniversary Celebration

ECYD is the charism of Regnum Christi lived by adolescents.  This year, we celebrate 50 years since the first adolescents began to live this Christian lifestyle.  On October 13, the General Directive College of Regnum Christi sent a letter to the whole Regnum Christi family to invite everyone to celebrate this gift given by God to his Church.  This Jubilee year will begin with the Solemnity of Christ the King, 2021, and will last until the same solemnity in 2022.  The General Directive College concluded their letter inviting every Regnum Christi member to “stir into flame each day our experience of personal encounter with Christ our friend and to continue collaborating with renewed enthusiasm in the mission to make present his Kingdom in every heart.”

The ECYD Pledge of Friendship with Christ is the nucleus of ECYD.  The logo for the 50th anniversary of ECYD represents Christ embracing the adolescent.  Christ the Friend comes to encounter our adolescents.  The sense of belonging to ECYD transcends time as whoever has been part of ECYD has felt part of a friendship that begins in adolescence but never ends. Find the logo and other graphic pieces here and here.

The official theme song was produced and released by RC Music Collective earlier this month.  You can view the music video and song here.

For use in publications or posts, please use the official hashtag #ECYD50 and the English version #ECYD50th and the Spanish version #50anosECYD

There are numerous international and territorial initiatives to participate in over the next year.  Here are some save the dates and we will keep you posted with more information about these and other initiatives.

  • Oct. 2021:  International Drawing Competition via the ECYD International Instagram -
  • March 5-6, 2022:  International Virtual Encounter of ECYD Directors
  • March 26, 2022:  International Virtual ECYD Panel
  • April 24, 2022:  International Virtual Encounter of ECYD Mission Corps Alumni
  • May 7, 2022:  International Virtual Encounter of ECYD Team Leaders
  • July 23-30, 2022:  Territorial ECYD/RC High School Conventions with a special 50th Anniversary Celebration

We encourage all of the localities to determine together how to celebrate this milestone not only for the current ECYD members, but also as a moment for those past ECYD members to  allow their hearts to be renewed in the flame that Christ set there and those ECYD members of the future to discover a friendship that transforms their lives.

Launching the ECYD Video Series: Meeting the Rest of the Family

Meeting the Rest of the Family is a six-episode video series with a corresponding study guide designed to introduce ECYD to Regnum Christi members and show how the Regnum Christi charism is lived out in the younger members of our spiritual family. The study guide is created to help you take a deeper and more spiritual approach to the contents of the video series, relate it to your own experience in Regnum Christi, and provide you with a greater understanding and love of the charism and God’s plan for the Spiritual Family. It is perfect for use as a study circle in team, for community discussions or formative sessions, or for a mini-course of formation. It can be found on the RC Spirituality Classroom at this link.

Impact One 2021:  Annual Appeal to Raise Funds for the ECYD Life Department

The ECYD Life Department exists to serve and support the growth and development of ECYD in all of our localities by offering support to the local ECYD directors, adult mentors, team leaders and ECYD adolescents. We offer resources, training and support, and national events. One of the resources we offer is Challenge and Conquest. These ECYD Programs form adolescents as Christian leaders to transform culture. We do this through a unique method and curriculum that is virtue based, teen led, gender specific, structured by teams, service driven and that responds to the needs of the adolescent. We strive to aid families, schools and parishes in the evangelization and Christian formation of adolescents, in developing their friendship with Christ, and relationships with those around them. We cannot do this alone.  We need your help.

On November 1st, we will launch our second annual appeal Impact One to raise $12,000. We can work together to continue reaching our adolescents through our adult leaders and continue the legacy of ECYD and its programs. Please click the following links to find out more information: Challenge Youth Ministry  and Conquest Youth Ministry

It is impossible to quantify the impact on thousands of lives of adolescents who were a part of ECYD or involved in Challenge and Conquest the past fifty years. Please help us continue supporting ECYD and its programs for generations to come! Help us to offer services and resources to our adult leaders in ECYD across North America.

Save the Dates! Professional Development Days for Adult ECYD Mentors and Formators

Every year the ECYD Life Department offers some days of professional development for all adults working in ECYD and with young people to continue growing in our own development so as to better serve in mission.  We have been working on a broader understanding of the skills and competencies needed for adult ECYD formators and then looking at the needs currently in our territory for assisting the localities in the growth and development of ECYD.  From this we have developed a basic theme for our professional development for the next years.  For questions, please contact Aly Brotherton ( ) or Amelia Hoover ( who are members of the ECYD Life Department Team assisting in the area of professional development.  The link for this year’s registration is here.

RC Marketing & Communications Mentoring Program
We've added a mentorship program to our Regnum Christi Marketing & Communications Facebook Group so you can get or give support to another member of our community. We are excited to see all of us build stronger relationships with each other and hope you'll join.

Here's how the program works: All Local Marketing & Communications Co-ordinators are invited join the Facebook group (don't forget to answer the questions), sign up for mentoring, match yourself with a partner, and get helpful conversation starters each week so you get to know each other better. It's up to you how much time you want to spend together and what goals you want to work towards.

Regnum Christi Connect!
Do you have trouble keeping track of all the marketing and communications digital tools and resources available to you and the members of your locality? We understand that it can be daunting at times.  So, we've consolidated access to all of the tools in one easy to remember

RC Marketing & Communications Facebook Group. A Group For You!
Please ensure your communications staff and volunteers are connected to the private group for RC Marketing & Communications on Facebook. It would be beneficial if all RCDs and Section Directors also joined. New releases of tools and resources are announced here, communications to be shared in locality emails and websites, and it's a great place to ask questions and share resources with other localities.
