Welcome Back to the
Unicorn Angel Network

Hello, this is Rushil Patel and Josh Magill, current seniors at NCSSM. We are interning at IDEA Fund Partners through the NCSSM Mentorship Program and will be overseeing the launch and expansion of the UNICORN Angel Network with Lawton Ives ‘17. We hope that our work will develop UNIty and support among NCSSM alums and connected individuals long past their graduation date.

If you're new to this newsletter, the UNICORN Angel Network is a platform for North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM) supporters and alumni to find, collaborate with, and invest in startups founded by NCSSM students and alumni. Powered by IDEA Fund Partners, one of the Southeast’s most active seed and early-stage venture investors, the network provides a platform for NCSSM alumni and supporters to find, collaborate with, and support NCSSM-affiliated startups. More information about the network is available on our website.

Alumni Spotlight:
In every issue of the UNICORN Angel Network Newsletter, we will highlight an entrepreneur NCSSM alumnus and their latest venture.

Carl Ryden '89
CEO & Co-founder PrecisionLender

In this issue, we sat down with Carl Ryden '89, who is the CEO and Co-founder of PrecisionLender, which is a commercial pricing & profitability platform. Utilized by banks of all sizes, PrecisionLender provides valuable information and data that influences how bankers communicate the structure of a deal with their clients. This allows banks to build stronger relationships with their clients that in turn advance profitability, growth, and customer experience.

Ryden's path from a single-parent household to NCSSM was so incredibly life changing that it inspired him to give back to the school. He has served on the Board of the NCSSM Foundation for nearly 10 years and previously taught entrepreneurship courses. This year, he will be back Trimester 2 to co-teach Applications in Entrepreneurship allowing students to create their own startups.
