Take Action Thursday!

Fellow Engagers -

You've got your sign up. You've contacted your legislator to encourage them to support bills for racial justice and police accountability. You've had a couple difficult conversations with people who aren't quite "woke."

Now it's time to listen. This may not be the most diverse place, but there are definitely People of Color on Cape Cod. And their experience of living here, getting jobs, finding decent housing, and dealing with the police are likely quite different from their white neighbors.

POC are sharing their stories at two speak-outs this month. Public officials have been invited, and so are you. Wear a mask, and bring an open mind and ears. From there, we can work together to correct the injustices that may not make headlines, but make an impact on everyday lives.

Listen up!

Saturday, July 11 @ 2PM

Hyannis Village Green (367 Main Street)

Have a story to share? Send speeches or inquiries to capecodvoices@gmail.com. All speeches must be submitted in writing beforehand, at most 6 minutes long, and without profanity. Speakers the option to tell their stories anonymously through guest presenters. Wear a mask, bring a chair, and listen up!

Save the Date!

Take the 21-Day Racial Equity and Social Justice Challenge!

Three YWCAs have banded together to launch the 21 Day Racial Equity and Social Justice Challenge, which started on July 1.

Participants will receive a daily email to examine the history of systemic inequities in America and how it impacts communities of color today in order to help foster awareness, understanding, and collective action toward the elimination of racism.  Daily activities include:

  • Reading an article,
  • Listening to a podcast,
  • Learning how racial inequities affect voting, education, criminal justice, and public health at the local, state, and national levels, or
  • Reflecting on personal experience.
Take the Challenge!

Positive signs!

We still have lawn/window signs available for pickup in Falmouth. Move to Remove is graciously distributing them at its weekly stand-out on the Falmouth Village Green every Saturday from 10 am- noon. Please find Jim Newman there, and stick around for the demo if you can.

These signs are free, but contributions to Engage Falmouth will make it possible for us to order more and/or donate the signs to people who have had theirs stolen or received hate flyers. Email us for more info!
