What have we been up to in the last month here at Make it Mid-Century?  We're glad you asked!

(Okay, maybe you didn't ask, but we're going to tell you, anyway, and hopefully, entertain you a bit in the process.)

In August, it was time for a few last road trips.
Having written a research paper in graduate school on the rise and fall of the Lustron corporation, I was thrilled to learn that the Ohio History Center has erected a restored Lustron model inside of their museum.  Going to see the exhibit had been on my bucket list for a while, so in August my husband and I hit the road (really, the skies) for a weekend trip to Columbus.

Nothing like a little shopping therapy to soothe the MCM soul.

We have a number of favorite mid-century furniture stores here in St. Louis where Make it Mid-Century is located.  We don't want to play favorites (but we are) in this blog post all about our five favorite mid-century shops.

Where are your favorite shops?  Let us know.

Does the thought of tackling a home improvement project scare the daylights out of you? We know that it can be daunting, but we want you to know that our products come with step-by-step instructions on how to use them.

Still unsure about your handiness? Do you have an uncle, cousin, sister or another friend who is handy? Beer and pizza and your eternal thanks will probably suffice.  You could even hire a handyman. (Handymen you'll have to pay with actual cash)

The last thing we're working on is creating free, illustrated instruction guides on easy home improvements that coordinate with our products. We'll be introducing those soon, so be on the lookout.

You can do it!

Is the garage door on your mid-century less than stellar?  Is it one of those plain, old, raised panel, white units that make up about 90% of all garage doors in the known universe?  Do you not want to spring for replacing your door just yet?  Are you tired of us asking you questions?  Hey, we just want you to know that we have kits to turn that door into something special.

James is a kit of two of triangular nesting moldings in your choice of seven different profiles.  Choose to add a James kit to each of the raised panels of your door or only a choice few as shown here.

We create all of our garage door kits from an exterior-grade recycled material that will hold up to the elements.  We'll even send your kits pre-primed so you have one less thing to think about.
