Working Equitation: Showing with Tradition!

Marisol Villarreal at the Haras Spring Festival

Working Equitation is a Sport!

The scoring at licensed working equitation shows must be objective and rigorously uniform. The Confederation for Working Equitation works hard to create a level playing field at our licensed shows.  This is important for the governing bodies of any national sport.
The Confederation for Working Equitation uses the scores obtained at licensed shows for our various awards programs, our national show qualifying points, as well as the individual medals program.  We invest significant time, effort and resources into these programs and they are an integral part of this organization.
We do not make licensing requirement exemptions for any show; all shows have the same rules and regulations and all governing officials are licensed with the Confederation.  That should give us all comfort, but especially our exhibitors as they compete against themselves and others.
As the Confederation is committed to everyone being treated fairly, licensed competitions must abide by the same rules and licensing guidelines.  Likewise, our judges go through an extensive training and testing program, and we require our international judges to meet outlined criteria prior to being issued a guest judge card.  The criteria are continually monitored and modified as needs arise.   These important elements are what make working equitation competitions a great opportunity for all equestrians.
So, the Confederation is serious about licensing shows that count towards our awards and medals program, just as we are serious about licensing our judges.  This is to protect our exhibitors and we take pride in the programs the Confederation has created. We hope you do to!
If a show organizer chooses not wish to license a show for whatever reason, the show can be used as a great opportunity to school horses.  Shows not licensed by the Confederation are categorized as schooling shows.  Scores earned at schooling shows will not count towards our national rankings, individual medals or for qualifying at the National show held this year in Texas.
